It's not just the fit that those of us who dislike the SH Hornets have an issue with.  For me, it's the fact that it gets quite a lot wrong with one of the most beautiful and elegant aircraft ever built - panel lines where there should be none, no panel lines where there should be, no raised spar caps, completely wrong canopy and windscreen, length. 

Oh, and the big red chevrons?  There's no photographic evidence for it.  Mind, it does look nice when done - I did it with a vastly reworked Frog kit back in 2000.  It featured in an issue of Scale Aircraft modelling in April 2002.

Ahah, looking forward to seeing the results of that find. I've got the Whirlybirds vacform, but always hesitated at starting it for some reason. A fascinating aircraft.

The same could be said of the actual aeroplane!  Is this the one that looks as if someone has inadvertently picked up the designers plans for a conservatory extension to his house as well as the aircraft plans?

While nosing ont'web, I found trumpeter does a 1/72nd scale js-4. After a bit of a read up on said tank, I decided that the engineering team within the cartel could do wonders with some of those, and an engine upgrade, gun and electronic wizardry botched together, will make a usable tank.

Not doing a lot of kit buying at the moment, just searching for "deals" and I found a couple. I got this A350 for $20 and a bit of shipping but the ICM Il-62 was $16 with free shipping. I couldn't pass it up. It was a "or best offer" deal and I actually feel guilty for haggling the guy down (by just $2 though, he was only asking $18). The shipping was $10.10 so I feel like I ripped the person off but.... hell, they were happy with it so whatever I guess.





I have two Zvesda Il-62s already but I'm happy to have this one. At least one will be Air Koryo.

It does indeed look like a twin engined medium bomber (or middle bomber as the amusingly translated instructions put it) with an added sun room.
There is no interior at all, not even the basic approximation of one so that will be something i'll have to knock up.
