My Special Hobby "Simple Sets" have just arrived  So P-40E Kittyhawk Mk Ia, P-40N Warhawk and Gnat F1. Just the kits and their instructions, no transfers nor boxes. Just in their sealed plastic bags and well packed in a sturdy box.

They must be getting onto the "Overtrees" bandwagon, because it's really worked for Eduard.  AZ have a similar thing with their Joypacks.

The only modelling-related things that arrived here in the post today are four cargo straps that DON'T depend on plastic buckles to keep them together.... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Makes quite a bit of sense, really, especially when you consider how many modellers buy aftermarket decals/transfers for their kits.

Some paint.  From the city HS.
Vallejo Medium Sea Grey and Ocean Grey acrylics.  So different from the shades they put in their WW2 RAF & FAA paint set as "closest match".
I will now have to build something WW2 RAF in order to try them out.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

The next logical step is for a kit company to market their sprues and decals separately through their website, with a decent interface that prompts you to buy a set of their decals, or reminds you that you need to buy some third-party ones before you confirm your order. They could commission some of their own decals and retail any other relevant ones that hit the market, and maybe even let the decal companies retail their sprues too. Win/win for everybody concerned: it doesn't matter what route the customer takes to get to your product as long as they end up buying it.

Absolutely, which is why I bought one in my pack of 3 "simples"  It is a fantastic kit and my previous one went together really well.

I've been steadily restocking the stash and I'm at about 60 kits now.  This week's additions...

Eduard 1/48 F-8E.  One of my work buddies is retiring and flew F-8s in the Navy.  Planning a build of one of his aanes as a retirement gift.
Kinetic 1/48 A-6E
Hase 1/48 F-14A
Airfix 1/72 Angel Interceptor (99c on That Damn Auction Site!)
HobbyBoss 1/48 A-1B/AMX. On sale cheap at Squadron...I think it'll be set aside for the One Week GB as a Kiwi A-4 replacement.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....
