A dead cheap Hasegawa 1:72 A6M Zero, directly from Japan, and a bunch of Begemot decals directly from Russia.

No idea why, but I read that as "dead sheep"  :o :banghead: :banghead:

Meanwhile received an Eduard Mig 21. Not my normal fare but read a lot of good reviews and thought, why not ?

I know  ;D. Normally the prop is the last thing I attach, it's almost like cutting the ribbon or smashing the bottle over the bows. With a jet it just seems to fizzle out, I've never worked out what the "final touch" is ?

It is nice though. No idea what colours I'll put it in however. Burmese during the border tensions with Malaysia and/or Bangladesh ?

I'm continuing to amass airliners. What fun!

I have a 1984 Revell 1/144 C-130 that rode along with a lot of 1/72 stuff I won last year. Paid about $4 per and had considered getting rid of it. Glad I didn't because now that I'm into 1/144 stuff, I can definitely use it!! To that end, I picked up a sheet of goodies for it:

Direct from Draw decals. Man, I'm impressed with them. I anticipated a wait to get this stuff but 2 days later it was here! Amazing!!! I'll be buying more C.R.A.P. from them. 5 stars from me. If anyone needs any airliner transfers, check them out.

While I was there I saw they were selling Minicraft MD-80 series for $12. I kept looking and they had other "packages" with other stuff like white metal gear or a sheet of transfers with just windows and doors and all the other common markings and "stuff" on an 80. I chose to go with a $20 deal that provided the kit and a sheet of Alaskan transfers.

Interesting packaging. A generic MD-80 in a bag with a card header, copyright 2017. Never seen one before like this. How neat!

I also picked up these DC-10 transfers. They old but look like in good conditions. I like the colors and they were $3.50 so I snagged 'em. I ain't got no DC-10 though.  ;D  Oh well, one of these days.  ;D

Lastly, a Sud Caravelle. I don't know how good these are or if there is a better one nowadays but it was less than $20 and I wanted one so I went ahead and bought it. Box is in nice shape, so that's a plus! The billion year old transfers even look like they're still good. I'm digging it... these lil jets have a special look about them.... kinda stylish, know what I mean?

So there we are!!  I'm still waiting on some junk from Canada and I picked up some other little things I've been wanting awhile because they were dirt cheap and I happened to have spare cash so I imagine I'll make another post in about a week.

The Minicraft MD-80 is the best one they've ever done to my mind, and in that plastic bag packaging they're s steal. I picked one of them up at the recent Cosford show and I've already built one of the boxed ones in the all red McDonalds scheme too.

Greg does a great line in decals and he's REALLY good guy too, I've known him for a long time and he's always full of information, and funny stories too.  ;D Keep on visiting the DRAW site, it's heaven for and airliner fan.

Funny you mention that McDonald's scheme...I saw it yesterday, for the first time, as I was poking around . I thought it was pretty cool.   Would look good aside a New York Airlines bird!

Next time you talk to Greg you can tell him the dude in Oklahoma loves his stuff and is impressed with the service. I'm fairly certain I'll be snagging more of these MD-80s as well, along with any sheets of goodies I might want in the future.

Ah yes, perhaps a Mig-21 re-engined with a brace of RR Griffons, one driving a prop at the front and one at the rear?

I was thinking of Rolls Royce Eagles (the 1944 one not the WWI era one) actually. Perhaps a coupled pair at the front and another pair at the back ?

Mind you I know absolutely nothing about engines, nor most other mechanical things, at all  ;D

SUPER power! The Eagle was a HUGE engine, there's one still installed in the only Wyvern left in the world at Yeovilton, and you think you've been shrunk to 1/144 scale looking at it!  :o

You'd have 14000 hp at your disposal in that 4x setup, pretty awesome.

Quite where you'd put the radiators for such a massive power plant within a MiG-21 airframe is open to question of course.  ;D

I don't think you'd need four of them, the projected power for the Eagle was 5000 hp.  But you could have an arrangement like what I've come up with for this below. The engine for it is a theoretical 2-Stroke 'X' configured engine based on the RR Crecy, it has been worked out to produce about 8000 hp. This comes out of the Rolls Royce Heritage Trust book, 'The Rolls Royce Crecy'.  The engine has a large compressor at the front end of the engine which would have been fed by an air intake duct. Around the compressor was wrapped an annular radiator, where the cooling air was then ducted past the engine block and then mixed with the exhaust downstream. The cooling air and the intake air was split inside the intake duct but has a common airflow before that, on my model the intake is under the spinner.
