I had a package delivered to my hotel in Rome... made me feel like James Bond.  Even better was the fact that it contained two LEE boxings of the 1/144 F-20 Tigershark (originally LS molds also used by Airfix).  I took advantage of my travel plans to get a much better deal on shipping (considering they were already in Italy) than I usually would on an eBay auction..

The problem was after they arrived I realized that one of the kits was missing the fuselage sprue but had a second wing sprue instead.  Since the boxes were sealed, it was obviously a mispack by some long ago Chinese staffer.  However, pleasantly the eBay seller surprised me by putting another kit in the mail (this time opened and checked) at no cost to me, despite him not being to blame for the screw up.

I also picked up a 1/144 F-5E and F-14 "Black Bunny" both from Revell at a model shop here in Rome.  I was hoping for a few more rare finds, but didn't want to head home empty handed after figuring out the local bus logistic.
Thanks!

A couple of eBay purchases turned up yesterday:-

Special Hobby 1/72 B.P. Sea Balliol - realised I never picked this up when it came out and discovered it had folding wings so will be done FAA but on a training carrier.
Amusing Hobby 1/35 FV215B Tank Destroyer - After I picked up the Conqueror 1 with the spaced armour at The Tank Museum I thought I would pick up the other project version they do

Exactly what JayBee had last week, the Special Hobby L-13 Blanik and the resin accessory bits, all from the Big H of course.

What a lovely little thing it is too, emphasis on the 'little' as well. I'm sure they weren't that small when I flew one back in 1960.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I do like Rome, and indeed Italy, but my memories of Rome's bus service still gives me the shivers

Small, Small, Small !. You need to take a close look at the Mark1 kit in 1/144, and yes you can get an etched cockpit detail set for it.

Another Airbus A-300 Airfix 1/144
Airfix HP Jetstream 1/72

Came together in a lot for $12 and another $12 in shipping.

No transfers in Jetstream and the ones in the Airbus are for an AA DC-10 but they're really nice at least!

This is an odd one.  And I mean odd!

On me way to the bus stop t'other day.  Spots a Revell box lying on the ground near a shop doorway.  Hmmn, picks it up.  Revell Wellington, reboxed Matchbox and I've acquired a few.  Sadly, nowt in the box bar the decals and part of the instructions.  So, the decals go in me bag and the box went in the bin. And it's leaving me wondering what happened to the rest of the contents!

Oh, I acquired a set of Zotz Middle East decals from a mate for the price of a coffee, but I'll probably throw in a bacon sarnie as well.  That sheet is expensive!

The mate got said bacon buttie and was most happy.

A solitary AZ/KPM DH Comet racer has joined the stash.  I'm thinking post war communications colours.

I'm just curious now as to where that built up Novo one I have has disappeared to.

Well, I took the daughter's car for a drive to hear what the strange noise is that she & her friends said was coming from it (sounds like the rear bearings) & get some oil & coolant for top-ups.

Somehow I came home in possession of a 1/48 Airfix Hawker Sea Fury FB.11

How on Earth did that happen? :o

Depending on which one you've got, it needs a new wing and canopy (1996 tool), or reworked wing blisters and lots of little bits* (new tool).

We need a decent mainstream "fit for the 21st Century" Spitfire Vb and NONE of the available kits do it.  Except for the AZ/KPM tooling and that isn't mainstream.

*fixes
Wheels - Tamiya, AZ or Sword spares
U/C doors - Eduard spares (Any mk IX boxing.  The mk VIII could also sort out the fabric aileron issue)
Canopy - Pavla
Oil cooler - Airfix spares (I/IIa/Va kit)
Prop - Airfix (as above)
Wing blisters - '96 issue Revell Vb
