Looking at them.. the decals seem alright but I won't be using them anyway..

The trouble with old Hase decals is they may look fine but as soon as you put them in the water they break up into zillions of little bits.  :banghead:

I always spray my older ones with a Klear coat first, but then you have to trim them of course.

Or they stay in one piece but refuse to let go of the paper.

Today, from BNA Model World I received a Zvezda Su 25 and instrument panels (the preprinted ones Chris recommended - I can't remember the maker) for Airfix Blenheim I and Beaufighter X.  I figured i'd try them out on newly moulded kits with good big canopies to peer through.  They look great but i'm either going to have to put in crew or get seat belts now...

Yeah, I have a couple of the Yahu sets in the stash - they look great, and I'm seriously thinking of getting them for most, if not all of the RW builds now... as if I need anything else to spend my money on...  ;D

Yahu  I must admit for my masking tape belts I just have a big piece of masking tape stuck to a ceramic tile and painted an appropriate colour. Just cut them out as I need them. Saves some hassle.

Another pair of 72nd Phantom FG1's  direct from Airfix

So can we take it Airfix have given your new year a good start ?   ;) How many have you got for feck's sake ?

I may have to build a ship sometime this year.

Need to dip my toe into that pond sometime (pun might be a tad accidental, until I read what I'd written before posting). I may start with the relatively simple USS Fort Worth LCS but I have to decide RAN or RAN Coast Guard ... :-\

Yes, I'm determined to build a ship this year. There's always a specialist ship models trader at Southern Expo so I think I will be having a good delve.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Well that makes 6 so far and i have my Hannants delivery due  ;D

However don't forget i have been plugging this kit idea ever since the TSR2 campaign, and with my Fleet Air Arm bias i was always going to be getting a few of them . I have 14 Fujimi ones in the stash already and i expect to match that with Airfix ones this year i may even get the FGR2 kit for a token Crab example or two .

Its a kit that would benefit from your Yahu instruments as the decal ones are a bit bland, and hopefully somebody will do something about the missing vents (etch, decals, resin replacement parts)

Still waiting for a Hasegawa 1/48 Mitsubishi F-2A, now a few days past it's estimated delivery date... Guess i'll wait till the end of the week and then if it hasn't been delivered, looks like i'll be asking for a refund once again... :banghead:

When all hope was lost, after almost a month and a half, both me and the seller were expecting this to have been lost and ready for a refund but it got here today, in perfect condition.
Considering it came to Portugal all the way from Japan, during Christmas season, i'd say i was actually surprised it didn't get lost, cost me 25€, free shipping, that's as much as i paid for the 1/72 F-2 kit sometime ago from another seller... and it's cheaper than a Tamiya 1/72 F-16... :o
I think this comes to show that it pays off to do a good search.

Good deal DFZ.  Worth the wait (even if it is the wrong scale )4

Having been to a not so LHS to buy only paint and lego and succeeding in doing exactly that (I did try to get a new kit but they had none of the ones I wanted) I returned home to find a box from Hobby Link Japan on my doorstep containing;

1/72 Finemolds Savoia S.21 (the one with the optional engine).
1/12 Hasegawa Suzuki GT380 (I always wanted a real one, have to settle for plastic for now).
1/12 Vespa P200 (Die cast but scheduled for disassembly and repainting & modifications to make a replica of the one I use to terrorise Croydon on)
1/24 Aoshima Honda City Turbo II

 Yup, sure was, lots of good plastic in the box. Re the scale, i admit... I have been buying 48th scale kits more often, lately. It's not going to become my main scale, i don't have enough space for many big models... :banghead:

Finally found some 727's at a price I could live with and finally found something with USPS on it at the same time!! What luck!

The plan is to get a couple Airfix kits as well then I will build one of each OOB then I'm going to build one that consists of the Minicraft fuselage and Airfix wings and gear.  ;D

One of two planes I've ever actually ridden on. The other was a Cessna 172 Cardinal. Now... if I could find THAT in 1/72.... THAT would be a find.

From Kit.... A Westland Scout   Though we had to cut the elastic cord that kept returning to the warmth of Kit's loft.

From Evilbay ... an Airfix dh Heron. There's one on ebay with a Buy it now of £79.99    :banghead:  No I did'nt get that one I paid a fifth of that.

A nice kit, that Minicraft 727, better than the Airfix to my mind, just somewhat more expensive.

Do you mean a Cessna 177 Cardinal, as the 172s were called Skyhawks? If so you're out of luck as I don't think a 177 has ever been modelled in any scale. There's quite a few 172s about, the best in 1/72 is probably the Ari one.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Yes, ugh!!  I had scale on my mind when I was typing... the 177 IN 1/72 was what I was getting at. I'd looooooove to get ahold of one.  I have 3 of those 172s... two of the regular ones then the one on floats. I almost started building one the other day then put it back up.  ;D  I love them little Arii kits... I have all of the ones in that series aside from the military version of the Skymaster. I just wanted the civvie stuff anyway, if I get a bronco I want the YOV version anyway with the turret.  But any how....I built the Bonanza last year and it was a load of fun. So much so I bought another one.

Continuing the current trend of trying to build a bit of a 1/144 jetliner collection, this arrived today. I couldn't pass this sucker up at a measly $6 and another $6.35 for shipping. I haven't read up on the kit or anything yet but at that price I figure I can roll the dice.

I have two more coming that I bought before I cut myself off from kit buying for the month.... they're even "cooler" than this one and the two 727s I got.  ;D

I'm itching to build one of these... I bet it won't be long before I get into another project!
