the last of the half dozen Airfix tooms I ordered arrived this morning,

Now to wait until the FGR-2 boxing is released.................................

Go on you know you want more  ;)

No can understand you already have a number of the Fujimi Phantom FG1 as it was the most readily available of their kits in recent years where as the FGR2 has been really fun to find, especially in the earlier F-4M configuration. The new Airfix kit should make the process a lot easier and there are a fair number of decal options that have already been released or announced without getting round to What-if schemes !

I have a Trumpeter 1/700 Graf Zeppelin on its way off eBay. It appeared about the same time as the Phantom but with an RRP of £40 so waited for a more reasonable price to pop up on eBay and snapped it up. Will be nice to have a genuine 1/700 waterline version, the details should be a lot sharper and more refined than the Revell 1/720 kit and its also the correct scale.

Will probably do it real as its a genuine Project Cancelled Aircraft Carrier, although I may get another later to do a post war modernisation on it, either Russian or West German

Most of the packages I receive direct from Airfix are in far bigger boxes than I expect. Still as long as they are well packed the size doesn't really matter, as I used to tell my ex  ;)

Oh, the box was packed all right! Only a sheet of paper & a small bag of air used to fill the space. The rest of it was wall-to-wall kit boxes! Flippin' awesome! ;D

Not kits, but two sets of CMK CFT's for F-16's. I have just put a pair on my XL, and even with heating them up with boiling water they were a nightmare to get to fit on the fuselage and stay put. And on't I know it as one of them has moved at one end and sticks out like a dogs d***. so that's my F-16 XL ruined. Project FUBAR will be the heading when I finish and post this build  :banghead: :banghead:

There's one more I'm looking to get pretty soon in the Air Korya livery. I forget what the plane itself was, though...

I plan to build one of these jet liners pretty soon... I think I'll start with the 737 as it "seems" the simplest of the ones I have now.

Going by the builds in the magazines Zvezda are getting a very good reputation as far as airliner kits go.

I feel for you mate. Had many a problem with resin cockpit inserts in the past  :banghead:

That sucks... I've had the same issue when using the Freitghdog Cfts on the Revell F-16. I've to adjust the CFTs with some sanding on the matting surfaces, to get everything properly fitted. I used a bit of Tamiya tape on the fuselage to keep the CFTs from moving too much before the CA glue was dry. Place them on the right spot, secure them with tape, lift one side to apply glue, attach the CFTs and adjust the fit, then tape them down in place so they won't move til the glue is dry.
This method worked for me as i didn't have to readjust anything, they were good on the first go.
Maybe you should try taking the crooked cft of and try to set it back in the correct spot, it's a shame to let such a rarity become a less than satisfactory build so, i think ot should be worth the trouble. Also, those resin CFTs are for kits with engraved panel lines, the Monogram XL has raised panel lines so, it might be a good idea to sand raised detail before trying to glue them on. Hope you fix that issue, XLs looks great with CFTs on.

I think it moved when I clamped it as the tape would not hold it down. Annoying is an understatement

Most likely a Tu-134. AZ Models do one of these, available from all good model stores.

Some of my friends actually flew on one of these to Pyongyang (and back again  :o ) a few years ago. Apparently they are banned from flying anywhere in the world other than China to North Korea because of poor maintenance!

You know, I get the impression anyway from things I've read and a few Youtube videos that the operations Air Koryo are running are geared more toward aviation enthusiasts, "tourists" and as propaganda of sorts. It doesn't seem like a whole heck of a lot of folks are using Air Koryo to commute or go on vacation.. most seem to be riding Air Koryo as if it were a carnival ride.   ;D ;D   One thing I read seemed as if this fella and group of other enthusiasts were on some type of "package deal" where they would fly on one plane, hop of and on to another, fly it around, again and again and even included a flight on an Il-78.  :o

This is why I hoard Kinetic F-16's. ;D

No, but seriously, big H sells these resin CFT's at £8 so €10 plus postage. Cheapest Kinetic F-16's on Evilbay go for around €20 plus postage, the CFT's are styrene like the rest of the kit so will save your time and poor nerves, and you'll get a spare Viper with either Block 52+ or Sufa bits (or you can use the same on the XL) and half of Skunkworks' NATO or IAF weapons pack.

chrisonord

I have done one of the kinetic sufa kits and have another in the stash as well as the block 52+. I want to build them as per, but with a whiff paint and decal job. I wanted to do my xl as an updated version, with cft's and electronic pods, and an IFR probe on it, as it will be a usmc ground pounder. I messed it up,unrepairably so but if I photograph it carefully no one will know. I will just have to be very careful with the others. These ones only cost me £7 delivered.
