From today's South Cheshire (Nantwich - formerly Crewe) Show:

Round 2 re-issue of the old MPC/Airfix Space 1999 Eagle Transporter kit

Was tempted to pick up this kit, but put off by the work required to make its look halfway decent. I did hear that Round 2 following their success with their 1/48th kit are looking to replace the old re-issued 72nd scale kit with a new tooling based on their 48th kit however its likely to be double the price of the current kit at least or half the price of its larger brother so its probably going to be a case of horses for courses.

Be interesting to see what you do with it as I expect you'll do something special with it

Well following Elon Musk's stunt, it did occur to me to have to have it, as part of Richard Branson's SpaceUK operation, dropping off a Rolls Royce on the Moon...

The B-52 and P5M Marlin had been on my wish list for a very long time for nefarious WHIF ideas.
Seeing as you have a trio of Starfighters... Ignoring weight limits, would a Starfighter physically fit under B-52 wing, X-15 style? Also, to balance the loadout, the BUFF would have to carry one on either side. In other words, this would be a continuation of the XF-85 and F-84 FICON ideas, to provide fighter escort for the B-52 strike force all the way to the target.

That is my exact plan. Fit will be tight, and inner flaps on the B-52 will need to stay up. Think it will just fit. I have mocked it up in 1/144. I have three potential roles in mind....

Having started a Frog Whitley (one that's got so much flash it may as well be a Novo one), I've come to the conclusion that the engine nacelles are just too basic and wooly.  Therefore, I've had to get a set of resin engines from ebay.  Sadly, these are the HBM ones and the resin is cack.

But I have decent resin and some moulding rubber, plus a requirement for several sets of engines.  Can you guess what's going to happen next?

The 'Balls 8' B-52 which carried the X-15 and other test aircraft had a cutout in its inner starboard flap so that the test aircraft's fin could poke through. It's very difficult to find pics that show the cutout as the X-15's fin is usually in the way, but you can just see it in this one I found.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

The only problem is of course that unlike the X-15, the Starfighter has a T-tail...

One of the eight 1/72 B-52's I have is a Monogram B-52A (IICR) with X-15. Has all the bits to convert it included. I've got a decal sheet to make it into a B-52B (or that could be the other way around)

Make the slot wider?

Well maybe not the place for it, however.....

Just to "celebrate" the fact that .... my stash DIDN'T just grew again 2018 .....I now haven't bought a model since 20th December 2017 and have in fact sold some models as well .....decreasing the size of my stash.  :-\

Can anybody recommend a good support group  :o :banghead:
Oh to be whiffing again :-(

True, but then the number of people who'd burst into tears if you replaced the Starfighter's T-tail with low tailplanes is approximately none...

The physical stash may have shrunk, but I would guess that the mental stash........the ideas you have about what to do with the remaining styrene/resin/etched material............... hasn't shrunk at all.

Personally speaking I like the 104 as it is.

The tailplane issue could be resolved by going CL-1200 Lancer style on the tailplane,
you could say that after the 1200 was passed over because it was considered too expensive
an option, a rebuild was engineered for the 104 that incorporated a few of the 1200's features.

It's the old B-52D kit with the bits to convert it to NB-52B Balls 8.
