New stuff. Didn't necessarily want the Lysander but it came with the SM 79. A new airliner kit for my collection of those.






EDIT: Now, wait a minute.... here we go again!!!  I started to look at my Trident kit and the box seemed extra heavy. Last time this happened I found out there were two Lansens crammed into one box and THIS time it appears there are two of these things!!! One is long, one is short.  One has the center engine intake molded on, the other has none.

So... once again, a little help figuring out what I'm looking at? I'm sure the longer one is the Trident I ordered but I don't know diddly about the little feller.




EDIT:  OK, turns out looking at the instructions helps. This came with them both. Turns out the HS 121 C is the kit box art kit and what is supposed to be in it and the little one is a BAC 111. Came with Aer Lingus and British Caledonian transfers. Bonus kit, yay!!  After shipping I only payed $21 for these so I'm pretty stoked!!

Went to buy glue.
Came home with glue and an Italeri B25G.
The LHS also has an Academy Banshee on the shelf which a bit of research reveals is the Hobbycraft moulds (complete with typical Hobbycraft undercarriage wells).
I enjoyed building the Hobbycraft version I did in RAN FAA colours so I may have to pop back tomorrow and pick that up as well despite having an MPC Banshee in the stash.

The MPC kit is the Airfix one - the old Hobbycraft one bears some distinct similarity.

From ebay:
Encore Spitfire I/II - this is the old Heller kit simply reboxed with new decals.  This one came with two sets and was the only reason I even bothered bidding, because it's underscale, lacking the gull wing, other detail and covered with rivets.  Once the decals and distructions were removed, it went straight into the charity box.

I now have a second Warwick, courtesy of Smudger on Britmodeller.  This is the Aircraft in Miniature re-release (and he's not doing any more or the other vacform kits either), with lots of white metal, resin engines and etched brass aerials.

The MPC/Airfix kit is the F2H-2.  Hobbycraft modelled the F2H-3 as used by the Canadians.  It was longer with the horizontal tails lower and with dihedral and the guns were moved to allow for radar in the nose.

I know the subtype differences, but parts of the Hobbycraft kit bear distinct similarities to those in the Airfix kit.

Besides the 1/72 M-24 Chaffee from Hasegawa that freaked me out a bit because it was smaller than I was expecting...

I also recently got my hands on:

1/72 Supermarine S.6 from Eastern Express.  Looks like a fun little float plane to build and I'm considering inserting it as a "WHIFWHIF" entry on the Porco Rosso shelf I've got going.  Basically WHIF I was an air pirate...

1/72 DH Puss Moth from Omega Models.  This one is destined for my Tintin build.  I'm a little nervous about this one as it will require a bit of surgery to add some more windows and it already looks like a delicate little resin model.  I've been humming and hawing over this one for a while now.

1/72 Norseman from Revell (via Matchbox).  I've been planing the "Yellow float plane" from the Tintin adventure "The Crab with the Golden Claws" for a while. It's a fictional plane, which is closely associated with the Bellanca Pacemaker.  But I recently saw someone else convert the Norseman and the fact that it's relatively easily available and comes with a selection of wheels, skiis and floats really pushed it over the edge for me.  The subject is fictional, so I'm going to have to adapt something else anyways... may as well go with the cheaper/easier option, no?

Just nabbed a Trumpeter Wellington mk XIV GR version.  Kicking myself that I didn't get that one at Bolton now, because it's cost me another tenner.

Secured a Frogspawn Whitley from one of the guys on Britmodeller.  It's a parts donor for a planned scratchbodge of the AW.23.



The Flightpath Tiger Whitley conversion should help with the engines and tailfins.

Got these for $7.50 a piece, after shipping. Surprised ol' boy accepted my offer but then again these have been listed for months.  I was most interested in the neat French aircraft;  the Stuka was a bonus came along for the ride. I didn't have one so I'm glad to have it.
