Two days ago the mail man brought my 1/72 Phantom F-4K to the door.  I bought it from Roll Models - I dunno what company, it's all in Cyrillic, even the instructions and the fact sheet!  :)  I wanted it for a bash anyway, so that's all moot.

More than likely it's an ex-FROG F-4K, which begat the Novo kits and went on from there.

If it's in Russian and has about 15 parts, then it might be the old Novo / Frog / Eastern Express kit. Got any pics?

Sorry, no.  You're right about the parts count, though.  Since I'm about to butcher it for parts of parts, perhaps not a bad thing it's an 'old' kit.

Otaki  1/144 C-5A  Galaxy.

No box, no instructions, and 90% of the transfers were gone. That's OK because last year I picked up one that had everything BUT the Fuselage and tailplanes for $10 and that stuff has everything this one doesn't.(speaking of... I see people trying to sell bits and pieces of this kit for princely sums... like.. just the instructions booklet for $30.... $30 for a single engine, etc...  PFFFT!)   Either way, I saved a good deal of scratch by being boxless. Even after shipping I spent $70 on it so that helps matters. Sure would be nice to have a box, though!  Oh well.... well... that stuff I ordered last year came with a moldy crumpled up folded pile of wank that USED to be the box for that one so I guess I don't need one afterall.  ;D

Thing is Brad, you can get aftermarket decals and engines, u/c, wheels for the C-5 in 1/144 scale. Mind you getting them in 1/72 scale is a bit of a problem, as I found out myself. I can get very nice 1/72 decals from Draw Decals but not anything else.

That's good to know if this stuff I have winds up being inadequate. I'm going to try to make it all work because I'm at the outer boundaries of what I told myself I'd ever spend on one of these, but I'm glad to have options and I'll be staying away from those "bits and pieces" that folks want too much for.

I was amazed after I had won that $10 lot last year (firstly, because no one else bid on it; I thought it was a steal)but mainly because after I payed for it, eBay suggested other similar items and first thing I saw was a SINGLE engine for $30!!!  Intrigued, I started looking around to see what else people were trying to sell and saw the instructions and a couple other single items and they wanted entirely too much for them, as well.  That said, all that stuff is still sitting, there, too. Been up for months.    ;D ;D

So you must have the Anigrand kit? That is glorious... I keep arguing with myself over the pros and cons of buying one. I tell myself... "no, it's just too large" but then I tell myself, "If I ever find someone selling one for $150 or less I'm definitely getting it" because I can't pass up a deal. But... man... what to do with the thing.  ;D  I seem to recall someone having made a 1/72 Galaxy in vacuform was well but could have been a fever dream.

Well done on getting the C-5, they're like hen's teeth! See your PMs in a short  while.....

As for $30 engines, that's ridiculous. You can get all four in resin for that price on the airliner scene.

Copy that. I stand corrected, though, it's a full set of 4 engines so....  that's MUCH better than a single one, but still....

The instructions are finally gone, though! Either someone bought them or the seller gave up trying to sell 'em.

And thanks... this WAS my "holy grail."  I'm happy to have it for sure... made my day. I need more though because.... well.....  I just do. I need to make at least 3 "normal" versions and at least one "what -if" version.

Oh and I found the box top that I had that came with the junk lot from last year:

Exquisite.

Yeah.... I threw it directly into the garbage can after this picture. Thing looks like a health hazard to me. Not sure why I held on to it.  ;D

That's the Entex version's box, the pukka Otaki version is much more graphic. I'll take a shot of mine and post it on here.

Shall I scan my instruction sheet and post that too?

May as well dig it all out, now!  ;D   Much appreciated for the help. I still have mine around here somewhere though. Not sure which version they are but probably Entex (yup) as they came with the moldy box top. That junk lot came with them and the full sheet of transfers which I was really happy with because they include the "what if" airliner version, so I'm good to go. I imagine I'll definitely want them on hand when it comes to the undercarriage.

Book ain't pretty, but it's certainly usable and didn't cost no $20-30!    ;D

These came stored in a heavy duty zip bag so they were spared from whatever happened with the box.

I have a crazy idea for a kitbashed airliner project using that 1/100 DC-9 fuselage and the spare wings and engines from the 1/144 Galaxy. These Pan Am transfers might work on that.   They blue stripes are probably too big... but anyway.. I'll use 'em on something eventually. Maybe I can find another An-124 (I have a sole example in the stash) and slap 'em on that.

Love that Pan-am scheme. I just wish I had an Otaki C-5 to do it to, or maybe a different scheme.

I agree... I really like it, too. I'm going to definitely use it on something.  Maybe even the thing it's supposed to be on if I can ever get more of these kits. OR, an An-124 if I can ever find another of those for a decent price. 3rd distant option would be to try to put it onto an Airbus A-380.  ;D :o
