Also in the box an Aurora 'The Wanderer' Whaler 1/87th scale (!)  box part eaten by mice but looks like its all there. Aurora boxes obviously taste better than Heller's  (too much garlic ?) they had a go at a Royal Louis 1/200 th but haven't touched the inner bags.

There were also three 1/350th WWI battleships a Zvezda Borodin, a Crombig Retvizan and a Bronco 'Chih Yuen'. The Combrig looks like a resin kit and while interesting to look over, floaty things don't float my boat, so what to do with them I don't know.

;D ;D

Interesting early battleships

Yes indeed, the more I look at them the more the juices begin to flow. The Retvizan resin is impressive, the ship itself has a series of turrets along the upper hull....

Prickly little customer. The few floaties I have made (distant past) would have been Airfix Bismarcks etc so this is a bit different. A little research revealed a few things... commissioned for the Imperial Russian navy she was American built and named after a Swedish battleship (?!). Sunk by the Japanese and then refl;oated and repaired by them she became the Hizen and served in a British squadron during WWI.

The second thing I found out was that kit currently sells for $264.00 (£197.90) on Amazon !!! THUD (that's the sound of my jaw dropping!) And I complain at paying more than £25 for a kit normally.

I was wondering at the price of a 1/350 resin ship and to be honest it doesn't surprise me.

I have a certain "thing" for these immediate pre-dreadnaught battleships I must admit

Hobbyboss do the HMS Agamemnon and HMS Lord Nelson as the last British Pre-Dreadnaughts which might be right u your street Chris as Trumpeter do the Dreadnaught for comparison

Speaking of floaty things I managed to snag a recent Airfix HMS Victory as its something I have never had or tried and I discovered the recent kits have been cleaned up and done in a light brown plastic rather than the earlier dark brown. Also got the classic ship book from the 1970 to go with it

Metro Hobbies in Melbourne sent me a $10 e-voucher for some reason.  It would have been rude not to use it so I got a Moebius 1/25 1961 Pontiac Ventura.  One of General Motors "bubble top" cars which are among my favourite American automobiles.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Oooooooh, cracking car!

We had one of its little sisters, a '61 Pontiac Tempest, at Pressed Steel in my first year as an apprentice. The Tempest looked VAST to me, so goodness know how big a Ventura would have looked!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Came back from Wor Show with a reasonable stash:

Revell Shackleton AEW.2 - intended as a donor for an Avro Tudor II scratchbodge
Sword Seafire 17 2 in 1 combo
Sword Spitfire PR.IV
Sword Spitfire mk XIV highback
Sword Spitfire FR.XIVe
Airfix Spitfire mk I/IIa x 4
AZ Seafang mk 31
AZ Spitfire mk IXe "Czech"
Revell Vampire F.3

There were a lot of relatively cheap Spitfires about but I'm at the stage where I've multiples of multiples of virtually every Spitfire kit and can be a bit blase. Even the Eduard ones in the combos where the prices are tumbling (because no one other than hard core Spitfire nuts wants them) were left on the shelf.  Two Royal combos for under £40?  Nope, I have nine of those.  I don't need any more!

I passed on quite a few other kits that could have been used as donors for several scratchbodges I have in mind but again, I have quite a few of these to start with so could well used those anyhoo - although I'm a bit regretful about the two Revell/Frog Shackletons that I could have nabbed for a fiver apiece which would have been a tidy start for an Avro 711 Trader.  I also flogged off about a £100 worth of kits that were surplus to requirements, so that'll get ploughed back into my show funds.

It didn't scratch the surface of what I need to get rid of though...
