Nice. Austin is ALMOST within range of being a place I could travel to, but not quite. Even though we're neighbor states that still something like a 10 hour drive. 

Now that's one of the things that fascinates me about N America and Australia, the huge distances between what those of us in Europe would consider to be next door neighbours. I can walk to the next county in about 20 minutes. Mind you we are almost on the Surrey/Kent border where I am

My reading of the box top is that it's a listing of the specs of the real car rather
than the model. Well, I hope the kit doesn't weigh 540kg.

Yeah, so it would seem. The guy who sold it hadn't  clue, I don't think he even knew what it was.......

It's very colourful though, and I may build it just for the hell of it, but I'll find an engine for it first.

It's pretty substantial, the sheer size of the place. Not just the U.S., but Texas all by its lonesome. You could drive a straight line from one corner of the state to another, start at sunrise and still be in Texas by sunset with plenty of miles to spare. It's just under 1,000 miles from Texline, Texas to Brownsville Texas. Lawton to Austin isn't even near that, but it's still equivalent to going from London to Luxembourg. Then there's the return trip...

One time, I drove from Lawton, OK, to a place in the Florida panhandle and it was a 22.5 hour drive. Left about 4AM and it was sometime after 2AM the next day when I got there. Not even half the distance across the US. There was some lateral movement as well, but still.....   

One day I shall retire with a massive RV, pile all my kits into a trailer, and travel the nation!

I asked how long they had for a holiday, they said two weeks  ----- I said there won't be any time to visit us then and they asked why  ---- I said Ottawa is 3000 miles away -- it would take them the two weeks just to drive there and back, not including any time for visits ----

It's a deal!!!!  I'm honestly pretty serious about trying to make it happen. It's going to take some sort of financial miracle but who knows what the future holds? All I need is my bigazz RV, my hobby stuff, satelite TV, antenna TV, and some way to get internet... satellite I guess. Whatever. By time all this would go down there's probably going to be something better. Gotta have my creature comforts. But... man.. all that in a home that can be anywhere? Imagine all the beautiful scenery and such and when the US gets boring there's the rest of the continent.

   I read a similar story the other day on Reddit I think it was about a similar situation...  Person in California had their family from Asia come to visit, decided they would rent a car and hit ... like... Death Valley in the morning, Grand Canyon in the afternoon then hop on over to Vegas by night time then go to Yellowstone and be back to where they were stayin in Cali by mid day the next day.     Lots of luck, and those places are actually somewhat close by to each other, considering, but that's still a boat load of driving. They were wanting to spend "half a day" at each place when they wouldn't even be able to drive from one place to the other in that amount of time, let alone visit.
