Scale Reference Cat, aka The Fluff Squig when he is involved in Orky projects finally decided to give scale to the project. He is seen here wondering why the machine has only two legs rather than the superior four as favoured by the finest of felines.

Also LEGS! I did not skip leg day. I skipped half of it. Only one is finished.

If he's anything like my cat was (or still is in fact, just not here) he's wondering what it will taste like..........  ;D

I think I got a bargain then, as all the ones that I have cohabitated with have been put off by the smells - of glue and paint, not the other things, you rude bunch!!
Although, one did send an early Huey conversion into an unauthorized test flight...

Four Legs Good, Two Legs Bad...

That's coming along well, keep up the Waaargh!-ish work.

ooo look - it's done!

Can you tell what it is yet?

How about now?
More photos and details on my blog.
I'm planning to also post a video tomorrow - I can't shoot it till then.

I have uploaded some detailed video with talking to youtube which will give you a better look at the project and possibly some sort of insight into what is wrong with me.
Indeed, I have created an channel on which to display my works. And I plan to upload more such videos in future (there are three there at the moment)

Nice one - you have a subscriber, although given your writing style, I'm a little disappointed that you don't sound more like Colonel K from Danger Mouse... ;D

I have graciously condescended to give it a promotional tweet on Twitter. In view of the subject matter, a squawk, or even a squork would have seemed more appropriate, but alas, the platform provides no such option. I shall compose a sternly-worded 280 character complaint to the CEO immediately.

You should put the link to your blog in the video description as well as the end card.

The links to the blog are in the description - you just tend to have to hit 'load more' because youtube likes to be terse and keep secrets.

Oh wait, you only watched the Morkanaut video. That one didn't have a blog link because there's no specific article to link it to. I've added one to the label which the morkanaut posts all share.

Yes, that's got it.

Entirely up to you of course, depending on what you want from the channel, but you might consider enabling comments:

1. Popular myth has it that Youtube comments are a horror-show. That might be true of some political or controversial videos, but mostly it's a huge exaggeration, and, particularly on hobby videos, my observation is that they're mostly pretty decent.

2. Youtube's infamous algorythms (nope, not a typo...) promote your video to other people based on a range of metrics. These change from time-to-time, but at the moment, 'engagement' seems to be favoured (amongst other things), which means more comments, thumbs-ups and shares is good. Obviously if you don't care about growing the channel, and are only using it as a utility service for your blog, then you don't need to care about any of this, but if you want it to do well on Youtube in it's own right, this the way to go.

I turned comments off while I worked out comment moderation settings. I run them on my blog, and I wanted to be able to run moderation on youtube as well. I've worked it out now, so comments will go back on.

Ah, good. One of the other things the algorithm is apparently favouring at the moment is off-site linking and embedding, because it directs viewers to Youtube from other sites who then hang around on Youtube to see what else they can find. Linking your vids in your blog should work very well with this.

Another thing that's useful if you want the channel to grow in it's own right is a 'call to action' at the end. What this means is that you actively prompt viewers to do the 'engagement' things that benefit you. It usually takes the form of a voice-over the end-card asking them to like, comment, share and subscribe. It's particularly effective to solicit comments if you phrase that bit as a specific question, rather than a general request. For example:

"So what did you think of my colour scheme? Love it? Hate it? What colour would you have painted it? Let me know in the comments below. If you like this video, please give it a thumbs-up by hitting the button, and if you think your friends would like it too, please share it with them on other social media. If you like this video so much that you want to get told every time I make a new one, then please hit the 'subscribe' button, and click on the the little 'bell' icon that comes up to make sure you get notifications of them. Thanks for watching."

Of course, you can parody it for comic effect too, if you don't want to sound too clichéd.

Soliciting negative comments might seem odd, but the thing is that negative comments and thumbs-down don't hurt you: they're all still 'engagement' as far as the algorithm's concerned, and people are more likely to be motivated to respond if they disagree than if they agree (sad but true: same reason why bad news always sells more newspapers than good news...). The thumbs-down number has to actually exceed the thumbs-up one before the algorithm even thinks about classifying your video as unpopular, that hardly ever happens, and even then, the video stays up. Some videos with sky-high dislike-to-like ratios still get millions of views and run ads.
