KC-141 Starfueler

Had this idea for a while, and fortune smiled on me with the availability of a C-141 and a KC-10, both in 1/200th scale. Boom has already swapped boxes, as have the decals. But I may be able to get RCAF decals in 1/200 from JBOT, so that's another option. PSR has started, more than I expected from the test fits. The kit was obviously designed to be built with the rear cargo doors open; they fit fairly well in the closed position, but leave rather noticeable gaps, and the ramp was a real PITA to line up. The name Starfueler is probably only temporary.

If you close up the ramp be sure to add a side cargo door. KC-135s and KC-10s haul a lot of cargo.
This sure looks cool!

As an historical aside, when Lockheed were pushing the C-141 to the Canadians as the 'standard heavy' for transport / tanker /ASW and personnel movement they proposed adding CCTV so that human cargo could watch TV monitors of the passing skyscape, in the absence of windows.

I see that Emirates have recently reanimated that idea with their first-class cubicles.

For me, the 141 code means asymmetry (Bv-141-like), will you include a touch of asymmetry? :-\ ;D

Something else I've just found in the Flight archives, if Canada had selected the C-141 it was proposed to place production there to let the Marietta plant concentrate on the C-5.

The plan was then to keep the 141 line open for the Candian order and also potentially as a platform for the P-3 follow-on ( 50 years too early, there )

Me too! I'm excited to see this one take shape. And I, for one, am quite happy with the Starfueler name.

Though in Canadian-English it would probably be Starfueller.

Perhaps Startanker would be safer?  Et peut-être StarRavitailleur sur l'autre côte du fuselage?

I was thinking of that, means that I have to scratch a couple of pods.

The Airfix VC10 tanker has a couple included in the kit, so long as you can find one of course.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
