The F10's got its re-scribed wings on now, but they're extended M'box PR9 wings on an Airfix B(I)8 fuselage so they don't fit chordwise, but I have some Milliput on the way to fill up all the gaps. Actually they're not RE-scribed, they're just scribed, the M'Box kit is pretty bare of panel lines all over. :(

I was going to swap the 'inaccurate' rudder for a resin one that arrived from the Big H today, but I can't see what's wrong with the original! It's got a different surface finish, but the shape is exactly the same. Anyway, I can't get the old one off!

Does anyone know what's mean to be wrong with it please? I don't mean the over generous radius on the leading edge of the fin, I've fixed that already.

Having glued the wings of the F10 in place I was able to check that my plans for carrying a couple of Genies in the bomb bay would work. I'd feared that the missiles would be touching the ground when their launchers were extended, but all was OK, although the clearance will be somewhat minimal............  :-\

In the process I checked that the nosewheel leg wouldn't get in the way of me drilling a hole in the nosewheel bay to add some nose weight............. It does.  :banghead:

So I needed a Plan B or the F10 would be a tail sitter, like most Canberras. Having already glued on the resin Freightdog nose radome I now had to get it off, not an easy task from previous experience. So holding the model firmly in one hand I smote the radome a mighty blow, King Fu fashion, with the edge of my other hand.

Voila! The radome flew off and there's a nice large space behind it for some nose weight. Result!

The Wooksta!

I had to do similar with a Hunter a weeke or so back.  Then dropped it, cockpit tub fell into the fuselage and it's going to get it's nose amputated and become a T-bird instead.

Basically the Airfix one has lines scribed in it, which it shouldn't have.  It seems there are people out there who can't, or won't, fill these lines in and sand it flat. For those people there are resin aftermarket rudders..... :banghead:

Obviously your lucky day Kit, otherwise the random would of flown off somewhere never to be seen again, or at least until you were looking for something else  ;)

Hope you didn't lose the radome.

Noooo, I've still got it, and it's held in place with tape while I get the CG sorted.

I've been PSRing the thing for AGES now, and it's almost done, bar some disastrous grooves around the engine fans, but I'll sort them before much longer. In the meanwhile I finished the wing tip missile pods, doors all attached and PSR'd and primered, and now I've attached them to the wing tips. As they're a bit on the large side (they're longer than the engine nacelles, even though I've cut about 10 mm out of the length!) I strengthened the joints with piano wire and glued them in place with strong superglue.

Here's the result so far, looking almost as it will when it's finished.

The little white bits on the wings are the aileron jack fairings, unique to the PR9s and F10s.  ;)

Captain Canada

And everybody was kung-fu building.......

This looks so right ! I'm in love. I need to stop looking as I really don't need to go down to the stash and start another build......

Some heavy duty gaps in the wing-fuselage joint on the F10, but that's what happens when you add a broad chord PR9 wing to a B(I)8 fuselage that's meant for a narrower wing. And then I made the wing even wider chord by adding the TE extensions that they tried on the prototype PR9.  :o

The gaps are too big for Presto really so I got some Milliput and filled them with that. It's the terracotta coloured stuff that I've not used before, but it seems OK and it's a lot easier to see on a grey model!

I see much sanding in my future though.............. :(

That depends on how good you are at applying filler  ;D

You could  start filling with scrap plastic. before putty.
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.
