Oh yeah.....looking so good now ! And that is armed to the teeth !

Currently it only has one Genie glued into the bomb bay, but with luck I should finish it today, and then it'll have missiles EVERYwhere!  ;D

It's easy to tell that this Canberra B(I)8 kit was designed before Airfix 'saw the light' and started to produce the exemplary stuff they do these days, viz the 'rag wing' Hurricane I, the F2A & F6 Lightnings and the Phantoms!

The parts fit of some of the smaller parts of the B(I)8 is atrocious, the fixing tabs for the nosewheel landing tear doors are a couple of mm out and it would be impossible to build the kit in a 'wheels up' mode.

I hate this part of a build, when you've got most of it done, all the major Whiffing sorted out, and you just have to add a few aerials, the landing gear and the bits and bobs.

And THEN you find that the bits and bobs don't fit!  :banghead: :banghead:

I've about had enough had enough of this stupid 'We need to increase the parts count as much as possible' business!  :banghead:

I'm down to adding the very last two parts of the F10, after doing all the decaling and painting etc. These are the two front wheel mudguards, which Airfix indicate you should assemble BEFORE you put the nosewheels on. You can't, because there isn't enough room to jiggle them into the guards and get the axles through the holes in the wheels, so you have to put the guards on afterwards, which means tweezers are essential to hold the blasted things.

One of mine pinged into orbit while doing this, and there's no sense in only having one on there, even assuming I could stop IT going into orbit as well, so my Canberra has no front mudguards, and if anyone wants to make a Federal case out of it, THEY can put the ruddy things on there!

Why not mould the guard as part of the wheel? The real thing stands clear of the tyre by only about 2" anyway!

So apart from the last coat of varnish the F10 is done.

Pics when I've calmed down and NOT ready to strangle any Airfix designer who passes by!

OK, I present to you XH120, a Canberra F10 of 34 Squadron RAF, based at RAF Binbrook in 1958. The aircraft, coded 'A', was flown by the Squadron's Commander, and as 34 Sqdn's badge was a wolf over a crescent moon, they were known as the 'Wolf Pack' and his nickname was 'Akela'.

(Look it up if it means nothing.  ;))

The F10 carried a large AI.18 radar, and was armed with a mix of missiles, four infra-red guided Firestreaks in wing tip pods, two long range radar guided Red Deans carried on under wing pylons, and if all else failed, two unguided nuclear Genies in the bomb bay.

The full backstory is here :- https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=47913.new#new

Although l have not commented on your build that is very impressive. I really like the idea of wing tip missile carriers, might have to steal that.

Beautiful build, even if Airfix gave you some headache. <_<
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Interesting concept & beautifully modelled!

Took only around 30 mins. That was quick.

Gorgeous build! Love this angle.  You can just imagine it over the North Sea at altitude, shooing away some Bear....

Well done, Kit.  I had similar plans for weapons pods on a Canberra.  Those will have to wait.

Absolutely brilliant!!  I LOVE the podded Firestreaks.  Quite the interceptor you've built.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Bravo!

Good job Kit.  But shouldn't there be mudguards on the...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Glad you like it gentlemen, thanks.  ;D

Particular thanks to Dave Kitbasher, who came up with a corrected designation for the beast, Harold Weaver, who toldme about folding wing Firestreaks, and Greg Strobez who found some instructions for the Scorpion for me.

And Fred, the mudguards weren't fitted to the F10s as they needed to be as light as possible to get up that high..................  ;D ;)
