Spitfires look good in any scheme.

Discuss.

I've thought about it and can't think of any it wouldn't suit off hand ? Some of the WWII "dazzle" type schemes might look a bit odd, as would some of the more "in your face" WWI personal schemes but then they didn't suit the real world aircraft they were on. But it's all subjective I suppose.

What a striking idea! It looks really strange in that scheme.  :o
And I agree with Dizzy, it would be even better with spats, open cockpit and maybe slightly gull-winged wings.

I have a Mitsubishi A5M somewhere, and wonder if a radial was an option, too?

Put that bad boy in some USN Tri-Color with later summer 1943 USAAF roundels.  ;D ;D  (Graft a radial engine on there while you're at it)   :o

Martin H has a USAAC Hurricane with radial, but it's in O.D. over N.G.

I do indeed Chris. And its butt ugly.....................

Pretty cool!! Juggish.   ;D

Yup, I'd forgotten how "Juggish" it was. Almost a half pint rather than pint jug  ;)

Thanks folks.
It struck me last night while cleaning my teeth that if they trialled Spitsfires then they may also have done so with Messerschmitts (Bf109 & Bf110), Tupolevs (SB-2) and Savoia Marchettis (SM79 & SM82).

How about a Reggiane Re.2000? The UK actually placed an order for those and then had to cancel it, so if we could, the Yanks certainly could.

That does look good, Fred.

ISTR there was a profile on this site of an I-16, with an enclosed canopy, in USAAC OD/Yellow... on Spinner's thread, I think?
You could probably re-engine it with a Wright Cyclone or PW Wasp for commonality with other US types.

And the Fokker D.XXI would look good, again re-engined, in either of these schemes too.

Hmmm, I have a PM D.XXI spare...
