Ah right. I agree, no matter how you did the transfers, they'd end up looking way to clean and sharp

I don't think decals will cut it as I want it to look like its written in dirt with a finger.
As I have been weathering it with heavily diluted acrylics i'm hoping I can use a toothpick dipped in thinners.

Would think writing it on using a liquid mask and then doing the weathering over the mask.  Remove the masking and should like it is written in the dirt.

Sounds like a plan anyway.

Love the colors on the truck so hopefully won't be weathered too much.

I think you have it there Phil.  Trouble is it's already weathered...

I've managed to draw an anarchy sign on one of the doors using a toothpick dipped in thinners.  It's very subtle and barely visible unless you get the light at the correct angle.  So i'm giving up on the graffiti idea.
I've weathered it to look dusty (well that was the intention anyway) so the colours are still there albeit less vivid.

Ural 43203

The Peace Convoy was a common sight during the 80's.  A raggle taggle collection of un- and barely roadworthy vehicles full of crusties, neo-hippies, trustafarians, anarchists, urban guerillas, wannabe revolutionaries and runaway rich kids winding it's way across the UK from festival to demo to peace camp to beanfield trailed by it's own police escort.
Distinctive amongst the buses, trucks, coaches, minibuses and cobbled together mobile accommodation was a former Red Army communications vehicle with a rainbow painted cab.

Driven by a couple known only as Olga and Volga it contained a small but powerful transmitter which broadcast, usually music but sometimes political rhetoric, under a number of different names including Radio Free Europe, Pilton Peoples' Pirate Broadcasting and Voice of the New Free.
Somehow the normally very effective forces of the Department of Trade & industry consistently failed to stop these broadcasts.  Despite the use of radio location vehicles supported by flying squads of police officers on many occasions the Ural always seemed to just manage to slip away in the nick of time as the net closed.

Come the fall of the Berlin Wall, the lifting of the Iron Curtain and the absorption of the EU within the USSR in the late eighties the peace convoy faded out of existence.  Some die-hard protesters tried campaigning against the SS-20s and Bears at Greenham Common and PVO Gatwick but a spot of re-education soon persuaded them that despite what they may have thought in the past, unilateral nuclear disarmament was now a bad idea which would only benefit the enemies of the people.

Olga and Volga transitioned seamlessly into the UK establishment finding favour within the John Smith Labour government.  Olga is currently member of parliament for Croydon while Volga runs the BBC.
