Gondor

I have had this conversion sitting around with the Academy kit for some time now and then I realized that it would fit the time frame for this group build

As you can see from the following pictures, I have drawn black lines on the Academy fuselage as a "cut here" guide due to what I consider the slightly soft detail of the conversion set. This also helps the build process as the conversion set is designed for the Hasegawa kit which is like hens teeth to get hold of at a sensible price.

I'm slightly tempted to put it in Suez markings   but basically it will be an RN machine with no fancy detail added.

Ohhh, I'd like the set just for the belly mounted radar.  Lot's of WHIF potential.

That's precisely why I've got one. One thing it's never going near is an Avenger....

And why would you anyway, when the whole thing is available as an OOB kit?

Got be something WAY off the wall, like a single seater Hornet or a Firefly.

Or a Pembroke for RAF use?

Did some more to the build today. Put the cockpit together and sprayed the interior of both fuselage half's and the cockpit as well. I have also sourced a cut away drawing of the Avenger as the Academy kit I am using has little to no detail, not that I am going to be fancy with what I am doing, just a little detail inside the wheel wells.
More cutting will take place tomorrow when I liberate the parts I want from the conversion kit, then it will be a case of fetteling the parts to make the parts fit the kit.

Just a little progress with this today. Work was carried out on the roof of the main undercarriage bays. An ejector pin mark in each upper wing was filled and ribs have been added to the roof's as well. Just basic stuff but it makes it look busy rather than empty.

Won't work - there isn't the ground clearance under a standard Shackleton 3 for the AEW.  Ask me how I know...

Now, if you replace the nosegear with one from a Vulcan...  If I had the time, it's one project I'd resurrect.  It's even got a coat of primer.

This is the bit I really like. Cutting things up

The sort of green parts are the Academy kit while the blue is the High Planes conversion set. I love using my mini drill with it's circular cutting blade

Some of the parts fit quite well as is surprisingly. I will be sticking each of the parts together, like colour to like colour prior to sticking the conversion parts to the remains of the Academy kit. Should be fun   ;D

You are a glutton Gondor!  I thought the light blue fuselage looked fine, but seeing like how you like your rotary saw!  ;D

Love the subject!

The Wooksta!

It'd probably have been much easier and certainly lot less messy to have taken the wing fillets out of the Academy and grafted them into the High Planes.
