From a tank dealership:

This bus was specially commissioned for Margret Thatcher and her cabinet after the Brighton bombings. It's supposed to weigh 38 ton, have run flat tyres and be fully armoured all over to withstand 7.62 rounds.

Not quite the luxurious affair you'd expect in a Cabinet-level vehicle:

Ah, the Brighton bombings.  I'd passed the Grand days before that happened.
I was on my motorbike and got pulled over by the cops for an identity check.  Must have looked suspicious.

So who would have bagsed the back row?  Tebbit & Heseltine?

Quite. Mind you, these days there are some parts of Salford where the bus drivers would probably be glad of it...

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

The colour scheme is a classic.  Where can I get some of that fabric for my lounge room?
