As a late addendum: the idea that this would also make a good American aircraft is not far-fetched. I just accidently found in literature evidence that a Grumman design called G-79A (one of the four layouts for what eventually became the F9F Panther) looked VERY similar to my build: with an R-2800 radial, an auxilliary jet in the tail, and even the air intakes were in almost the same position as on the Gu-1! Side profile and the wing shape are almost the same, too!

An alternative was even to be fitted with a turboprop engine.

So that makes it Imperative and a foregone conclusion that you'll do another in US markings...  ;)

Well, creating a copy will be hard, since I use what the donor bank yields. But after having seen the profile of the G-79A I am tempted to bash this one, too some day, since the P-47/Attacker basis comes surprisingly close.
Should look cool in a classic all-blue USN livery, I am just not certain hwo to call it? It would be the alternative F9F Panther, not something fictional that fills a real world gap?
