The Model
Hasegawa Vought F8 Crusader.  Slats and Flaps cut off and re-attached in the dropped position (they were linked to the variable position wing - if it was up, they were down).
Pilot from Hasegawa US Pilots and Crew set.
Missiles (AAM4s) from Hasegawa JASDF weapons set.
Decals from an Aussie Decals Sea Fury set (don't look too closely as the Super Etendard has the same serial number).

The whole build was inspired by this profile by Panther G.

Super job there, REALLY looks the part.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Very well done, Fred! I suspect PantherG will be chuffed!

Wow that looks great- really like the scheme!

Any reason you didn't put the missiles on the fuselage rails?  Not a criticism, just curious.

Thanks folks.

Dave - quite simply, I forgot to drill the required holes before I closed up the fuselage. Ummmmm, I mean that the twin fuselage mounted rails affected (effected? I think I was asleep in that english lesson) handling to a significant amount and the RAN Top Gunfighters wanted every advantage possible when taking on Indian MiGs during the Sri Lankan Standoffs.

;D

I am now pondering what to draft into the RAN next.  I have two Corsair IIs to choose from (Hobby Boss and of course Hasegawa) but also an Intruder, F15, Harrier (four, but not one Sea - however a nose job and back story will change that), Seahawk Trainer (I think that would be a Whiff), F20, Viking...
Plus of course I want to do a RWish Sea Fury and Seafire.

Hmmm, maybe a carrierborne Mitsubishi Mu2-S?
