Kit is from Italeri 1/72. The making is a bit of disaster, luckily the outcome is at least salvageable.

If only RAAF continues with French's beauties

That's looking very retro - but in a very positive way!

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

It doesn't look very disastrous to me, it looks darn nigh perfect. And very plausible too.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I concur with the honourable gentleman
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Don't apologise - I think it looks very good (and plausible)!

OK, I'll admit I see a few small issues but I agree with the esteemed gentlemen.

The most wonderful point (genius!) is the black colouring of the radar: usual on Mirage III and F.1 but very new/inventive on Mirage 2000, thanks!

Oh so much sexier than Hornets.

The odd thing about the Australian competition was that it was originally due to be finalised in 1978, with F-15s likely, due to the rapid deterioration of the Mirage IIIs.  But suddenly it was 'discovered' that the IIIs could last for another decade, so the competition was extended and the F-18 was able to be included...

Later in the 1980s the IIIs began to suffer serious maintenance issues, including groundings.

We could have bought Viggens in '78...
