Cruise Ship AIDAvintage, June 2018

The Ship:

In the last years, cruise ships are a booming business. While the trend is to build bigger and bigger ships - 5000+ passengers an more on the bigger ships - many potential cruise ship passenger would prefer a smaller ship. Which usually results in higher voyage prices.

While the companies experimented with different formats for cruise voyages, Aida Cruises, Germanys biggest cruise ship line (owned by Carnival Cruises) started a new concept: Make a voyage as in the 1930s or 1950s.
The result of this idea was the AIDAvintage. With its 160 meter in length and a passenger capacity of 600 persons, it was significantly smaller than other contemporary cruise ships.
Build in Papenburgs Meyer Shipyard, the ship was launched from the building dock in January 2018 and commissioned in June 2018.

Planned voyages cover the classic cruise ship routes in Norway, the Mediterranean and South America

The Model:

This is the 1/500 scale Mirage model of the Polish passenger ship Pilsudski painted in AIDA colors. Its mainly used as a test model for the big AIDAluna Revell kit to see if the how the painting can be made.
The model itself is pretty basic and part quality is not really good, but for the test model, it was ok. The ship was build OOB, painted with Revell Aqua Colour. Decals are self printed, based on those of the Revell AIDAluna kit (scanned, scaled down and printed). Some PE railings were added as well.

That's neat. I like the paint scheme
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
