Paint question, High Speed Silver

What is the best model paint to represent the "High Speed Silver" paint used in post WW2 RAF aircraft?

I always used good old Humbrol No 11 because provided you stir/shake the pot enough it brushes well.

I never had any luck with Humbrol silver.  I could never get it to brush out decently and it never seemed to dry properly.
On the other hand my Father had the knack and used it to brush paint beautifully an Airfix EE Lightning and a Freedom Fighter for me when I was a nipper.

I hate hand brushing silver, especially for larger models. I have better luck with a cheap can of silver spray paint.

Xtracolor High Speed Silver.  Goes on nicely with a brush.

I have a VERY vintage tin of Woolworths Houshold Silver that I've always used for the HSS scheme.

It's sort of semi-gloss, and goes on with a brush superbly, but I reckon the chance of finding an un-used tin these days is just about zero.
