With Russia renewing it's armoured trains I thought it was a good idea at the time to either scratch build or update a toy train set.
Lima did produce a military train set in Ho scale based on a German armoured train. Prices can be very expensive for a good set, even a well worn car/carriage will set you back a crisp twenty pound note.
Hornby went for the 'Combat Zone and Military Zone'.
There's other sets available but can be costly and are not really meant to be played with.
Mach2 also does a military armoured train, this has always been out of my price range. I'm not too sure if any Whiffer has bought this. If it is anything like the aircraft kits, then there's a lot of work to be done, so there's scope for a whiff.
If the price puts you off there's a company called Unimodel that trades under UN or UNI, they have a range of WWII armoured trains/wagons that are reasonably priced.
HobbyBoss/ Trumpeter do the odd armoured train.
I think most of the kits are for a fixed scene, but I'm sure that if the wheels/boogies and cupplings were changed they could be pulled by a loco of your choice.
