Okay

So there are three RW builds that are in the queue ahead of this, but I felt the need to make a start on something for this GB otherwise it'll be the end of September before I know it!  :banghead:

So the kit is a Revell 1:450 scale Boeing 747-200 bought as a postage reduction item alongside the model I did want. I wasn't sure what I could go with a 1:450 747, but I was sure I could do something  ;D

So the obligatory pieces laid out on the (I really must clean it) kitchen floor!  ;D

Oh to be whiffing again :-(

Oh, I'm keeping an eye on this one...
Thanks!

Don't get too excited  ;) I'm unfortunately not a 'chop and changer' like some of the wonderful creations on here. The finished model will still be an unaltered 747, but it'll definitely have RAF roundels  ;D

Makes me wonder what a 747 in a Hemp livery might look like...?

No, STOP!  :banghead:  ;D I have enough trouble realising the kits and ideas I have without being tantalised with new possibilities!  :o ;D

Even worse, a 1/144 scale hemp 747? Or, perish the thought, a 1/72 scale one!!  :banghead: :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Not at any price, especially not at THAT price!

Somehow I thought that might be your reaction!  ;D

Now - odd question of the day time - Revell does two 'small' scale 747s, but why is one in 1:450 scale and one in 1:390 ?? plus the Easykit in 1:288, it's a shame the latter is a pre-painted snap-kit

One of them is an ex-Matchbox kit IIRC, but I've no idea which one is which really.

Revell do the Boeing 747 in 1/144 scale, I bought the one with the Space Shuttle.
The wings have been changed using a badly damaged Lindberg Handley Page Victor.
I still haven't gotten around to painting it yet but your suggestions have given me a lot to think about.

Dizzyfugu

The 1:390 is the Matchbox kit, and, AFAIK, the 1:450 kit is a Heller mold.

So is this 747 for transporting troops around the British Empire  ;)  or is it a large in-flight refueller?
Or do we now have a proper Royal Flight?

In todays terms it'd make life easier when taking units across to Canada to play on the open ranges in Alberta. Taking 400 troops with all their kit saves time.
