Gloster Gyrfalcon Mk.I

So, in my stash I have a Fokker D.XXI that I'm turning into a Gloster fighter, trouble is, I have two names that would be good:

Gyrfalcon (Gyr, Gyrkin)
Or,
Goshawk

Place your "votes"

The kit is a 1/72 Pioneer Fokker D.XXI, any info on this kit from people who have built the kit, your input and advice is welcome!

The name Goshawk is commonly used in reference to the Curtiss US Navy F11C/BF2C
biplane series, however I've not been able to determine if it was an official name as
Curtiss also used it, along with Hawk II/Hawk III, in marketing the export versions of
the type.

Which wasn't unusual, Vought used the name Corsair for years on various aircraft, the
F4U was the first to have the name officially appended.

What about Griffon for the Griffon Vulture?

Because Vultures are not my favorite raptor, lol!

I doubt that Gloster would have cared about the F11C's nickname, or even known, as most export Hawks were called Hawks.

Well Flight was aware of it, and I'm sure Gloster were as well, manufacturers
tend to pay attention to the competition.

Knowing the British aricraft industry, Rolls would have stitched up a deal with Glosters to supply the Goshawk to power the [unnamed] aircraft...

Gloucester, the county, is out Wales way and Gyrfalcon sounds Welsh

How does one pronounce this? Do you rhyme Gyr with Fire or Fur or Fear?

I always assumed it rhymed with fire.  With a G sound like Guy.  ie. Guy-er.
But I suppose it could be the G as in German.  ie. Jai-er.

And then of course is it Fall-cn or Fow-cn?

Isn't english a wonderfull language...

I'd always (I use it in everyday conversation of course  ) pronounce it rhyming with "fear".
