Who makes a good 1/72 Tornado F3 kit please?

My LHS not only don't have any, the guys there don't even know what I'm talking about, insisting on showing me Revell, Airfix and Italeri GR4s!

I guess the Hasegawa is probably the better one of the lot, but Airfix, Matchbox Italeri/Revell also did the kit

Thanks for that Geoff, I didn't know so many firms made them! 

But as usual at this time of night, eBay comes up with 'This page cannot be displayed' when I select one of the offers to look at. 

I'm keeping an eye on a couple of them.

One thing to note the Airfix/Italeri and matchbox all have the outer sidewinder sub pylon on the main wing pylon where as the Hasegawa only has the inner sub pylon as per the GR1. However it is the nicer kit with the separate fwd and aft fuselages with the usual horizontal split rear fuselage associated with VG wings and a vertical split fwd fuselage.

I'd (subjectively) favor the Italeri/Fujimi/Revell mould, because of the best price/performance ratio. It goes together well (built it many moons ago OOB), and detail level is O.K. The Airfix kit looks rather crude to me, but I cannot tell how it turns out when assembled. The same goes for the Matchbox kit, it comes with trenches. but also with a relatively good cockpit interior. With a look at the sprues the Hasegawa kit does not offer any obvious and significat added value when compared to the Italeri kit - but it typically comes at an insane price tag (twice as high as the Italeri kit and its incarnations) which I personally would never accept.

Thanks for the advice gentlemen, I've bought an Italeri boxing via eBay and it's en route as I write.

Naturally I have a cunning plan for it, and it may even include longer wings!

Been done before...........................in 1/144th

as seen at last years Scots national show. Its also been seen in the comp at SMW2016.
No idea who built it thou.

Oh I don't know, the last one I built, the STAND, had NO wings at all! 

But the F3, or whatever it turns out to be in the end, may well have a slight span extension.........

You could use the wing from a Gloster Javelin, or Blackburn Buccaneer.
Or even try the North American RA-5C.

I was musing on what type of wings a Tornado would have if they were fixed ?

IIRC, there was a naval Tornado (posted here) with aerodynamic surfaces from an F-18, incl. twin fins. Looked pretty good! Some shoulder-mounted delta wings (Mirage IV?) could also work and look good, kind of CF-105 2.0?

IIRC someone here did a CF-105 winged Tornado a while back.

But mine will have the normal swing wings, just maybe a little bit longer.
