A difrerent way to build/present a model kit

Here's another, especially space saving, novel way to present. I found this recently but only just now stopped to really look at it.... and it started to look funny. It took a few minutes then I went into the comments section and found that this was a model, cut in half, mounted on a mirror tile. Gives the impression of being in flight and is a pretty nifty idea.

There used to be a fad for the 'cutting in half and gluing it to a mirror' method amongst the airliner modelling community, in the early 80s maybe.

I think it had something to do with the fact that there were very few airliner kits about but ZILLIONS of decal sets, that way you could use two decal sets on one model.

I only did one, a Lufthansa and Braniff 737-200, both long gone by now I'm afraid.

Interesting stuff! Leave it to people to improvise. A whole wall of them would look pretty impressive.

My 'Twin 737s' used to hang on the wall above the fireplace in our old house. They always got loads of interest from visitors, specially when you told them they were Airfix kits.
