Just stumbled upon this neat ...interpretation of a vintage Airfix 1:72 EE Lightning F.3:

Creative!

That model was at Telford a few years ago, and it was even more impressive in the plastic than it is in the pics.

Because of the lighting there it was very difficult to see the wires supporting the various parts and it looked for all the world as if they were suspended in mid-air!

VERY impressive indeed.

And he saved a lot on glue and paint as well...........  ;) ;D

I heard that Hornby bought it off the guy who built it, and its now at their visitor centre.

Dont know if its on display thou.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Thanks for that, I've been trying to find those images for ages.

I've always thought it would be a brilliant full size sculpture.

The Wooksta!

IIRC, it was by Dean Flyer, formerly of Britmodeller.

Finding a team of guys to actually do it might be a problem in the UK though. Actually cutting up the 1:1 scale Lightning would reduce most of them to blubbering wrecks!

But it would look amazing if it was done.

What happened to the 1:1 Spit James May built?  You could do it with that.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

It's at Cosford, I saw it a few months ago, complete with a 1:1 scale model of James May himself sitting in front of it!

I remember that, great idea!  Didn't someone on here also do something with painting instructions, following it exactly and painting on hashes lines and dots?  Might have been John Howling Mouse, but I can't find it.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Have Hornby/Airfix had that on their stand occaisionaly ? I seem to remember seeing it on at least a couple of occaisions.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
