New Airwolf design?

Hello,

To make things short...which heli would you choose to make new Airwolf? I'm thinking about Dauphin...but I'm not sure...

Any ideas?

Weaver

Are we assuming that the new Airwolf is to the same spec as the old one, i.e. stupidly fast, stealthy, slient and with a unfeasibly large arsenal of guns and missiles, or can we re-write the spec too?

Also, are we limited to commercially available, reasonably-priced machines, or can we get anything, including military surplus types?

Let's just say that we are limited to 1/48 or 1/32 and 1/35 :)

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Okay well if we are allowed unlikely things, then I would suggest acquiring a military-surplus Hueycobra and fitting it with:

1. Bell 222 retractable undercarriage units on the former stub wing positions.

2. An extended nose with a retractable nosewheel, using the former turret mounting points.

3. Similar fake retractable gun & missile launchers as the original.

4. conformal jet pods on the sides of the fuselage.

As a less complicated alternative: why not start with an A-109? That's one of the sleekest and fastest (relative to engine power) helos around.

I could imagine ESCI's fake Ka-34 "Hokum" to be an apporpriate design? Painted in black and white...?

i built an Airwolf Mk.3 a few years ago, i used the revell/matchbox SA365 Dauphin as a basis, installing similar modifications to the original Bell 222 Airwolf.
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

The Airfix 1/48  or Revell 1/32 Lynx might work.

An Agusta A109 would  give you a similar look, but I don't know of one bigger than 1/72.

Because there is no bigger A109 than 109, but I'd love to :)

That was my idea...Trumpeter makes one in 1/32

There is an Revell Lynx in 1/32 but I don't know if it fits into role of Airwolf.

Ka-34 is 1/72...but it fits very well indeed:)

A Rotodyne with ramjets perhaps?  ;) ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I hope that you're kidding :D

I do not think that the Rotodyne would be able to achieve a high enough airspeed to ignite the ramjets.
A slimmed down Rotocrane might be more viabl.

The Lockheed XH-51A, with the auxiliary turbojet might also be a candidate for some inspiration, although there is no model available that I am aware of.

About the only 'conventional' helicopter that wouldn't thrash itself to shreds at high speed would something like the Sikorsky S-69 with the close-coupled coaxial rotor.  Any models...?

A highly modified Chinook or Sea Stallion.
Or a turbine powered Mojave.
None would be super fast but think of the weapons they could carry...

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Am I right in thinking that this is supposed to be a movie prop helicopter, not an actual, working Airwolf? If that's the case, then it's actual speed doesn't matter: 'movie magic' (i.e. speeding up the footage) will get it going fast enough to get into orbit if you want...
