New Airwolf design?

I'm still thinking about x-wing:

Snowtrooper

All these high-tech stealth compound helicopters would be more appropriate designs for a new Blue Thunder. Airwolf's idea was to be literally "a wolf in sheep's clothing", to be able to masquerade as an ordinary civilian helicopter which no-one would suspect to be a supersonic gunship with tons of fuel and ammunition stored in hammerspace.

If going for realism (being actually able to fit all the armament internally), I'd pick something a bit bigger than AW109, eg. AW139 or even AW189 (loaded weight is roughly the same as AH-64). Or at least you should handwave that the more powerful powerplant of a heavier chopper was crammed into the smaller fuse.

A highly modified Chinook or Sea Stallion.
Or a turbine powered Mojave.
None would be super fast but think of the weapons they could carry...

That'd be how big a real Airwolf would be if you fitted all the missiles it could carry.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Ten Bullpups, two Sidewinders, two 40mm cannons and four .50 cal machine-guns IIRC... :o

Badass. I distinctly remember Copperhead being on the inventory too, among others.   ;D

The thing I loved about Airwolf, is it was just cool, improbable, but cool.  Compared with the plausible Blue Thunder, whose TV series bombed.

Looks awfully like somebody going through a coffee-table missiles book and picking all the ones with cool names, irrespective of the specs or history... ;D

I wonder where they put the 155mm howitzer to fire those Copperheads from?

Dom kept them under his seat.  Those 155mm could also be used for air-to-air!

Nuclear Shrike?

I can't find any reference to that anywhere.  Could someone have got confused over the meaning of "Anti-Radiation Missile"?

In the pilot, Marella tells the ill-fated Senator Dietz:

"And finally the Aircraft Commander, who's responsible for positive flight control, target acquisition and weapons system selection.  The latter offers him fourteen firepower options, ranging from 30mm cannons to nuclear tipped Shrike missiles.  In other words, senator, Airwolf is a mach one plus chopper that can kick butt!"

And I'll throw this action scene from the Movie doovde.  It's a heavily reworked and expanded scene from the pilot, using footage from the episode "Mad over Miami" and new dialogue.

"They're Mirages!" he says, calling up a picture of a MiG-23 and then engaging some Thunderstreaks painted with red stars.... Good old Airwolf.... ;D

The stock footage of "MiGs" was largely taken from that Korean war Wagner/Mitchum film, sorry I can't remember the title.
