With engine...

Cowling flaps are spring loaded so they are open when stationary or taxiing but are forced closed by the slipstream once airborne thus becoming more streamlined.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Oh yes! That's looking REALLY good now.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Painting the undiecarriage is progressing.
I must dig out a prop.  Standard I-16 has a two bladed VV-1 or VISh-6 propeller but i'll have a dig through the engines and props box and see what I have with more blades.
The whole upper cowling is one piece and is constructed from two pieces of Airfix Beaufighter cowling.  Consequently there is a seam in the most obvious place right on the top.  But of course it's slightly offset so I can't leave it as a feature.  I've filled, sanded and primed it but it'll need more PSR.

There is, but it's not much longer than IRL, and if I had shortened the legs of the engine mounting frame I prolly could have kept it stock length.

That cowl ring certainly gives her a different look
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Canopy is attached.
Cowling is painted and cleared.
Prop is painted.
All that is left to do is clear the prop, paint the inside of the cowling and scratch up an exhaust.
Should be finished Monday.
