ok, i finally got my entry out to the bench, and work has started.

my entry will be a racing version of the Heller 1/72 Spitfire Mk.XVI, i started with assembling the wings and the cockpit parts.
as for a color scheme, im thinking of going all red with white/black trims. on the other side, im thinking of a green/white scheme with Benetton sponsor markings.

pictures will follow later
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

Update:

the cockpit is almost done, although im having some problems with my camera, so pictures will have to wait.

but in the mean time, here's a rough sketch i made for what i have planned in terms of the color scheme

JayBee

I would suggest a very much smaller canopy to reduce drag.

If you find one... had the same issue with my Mustang and improvised. Pretty paint scheme!

I have an idea WRT that issue.  If I build a second race plane i'll try it out.

Lovin' it! I recently did the old Hawk/Testors Mk22 as a racer, just a quick slap-together and simple paint job. Yours already has me salivating.

More like this.

There's a precedent, although I've no clue how you can replicate it!

I love the paint scheme you've come up with!

A 1/144 scale canopy on a 1/72 scale model does the job.

My MB5 Monoooooon pylon racer used a 1/144 scale F-16 canopy, and it works well.

Yes, I would say that, wouldn't I?  ;D

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Picture time  ;D

it all started with 2 fuselage halves

then came a cockpit....

the wings were joined and the guns removed....

witch brings us to today  ;D

i have removed the underwing intakes and started to fill them up (will need a LOT of filler).
i have replaced them with a belly mounted turbocharger.

on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

perttime

Oh, a turbo!
I like the idea of trying some smaller scale jet fighter canopies if you happen to have any left over. Even a smaller scale Mustang or Bearcat canopy might work too?

Update:

in onder to shift my thoughts, i have given the spitfire a light coat of primer.
however, time on the bench will be limited and motivation just isnt there, as today i had to say goodbye to my mother in law.

so due to these circumstances, the project will be put on hold and withdrawn from this GB, to reach the finishline at a later time.

Take your time Nils although perhaps you should say Delayed rather than Cancelled and asked a mod to move the build from the Group Build to the normal build area?
