Got one of my Holy Grail kits been after one for several years, finely found on on-line in a South African model shop. Fortunately they agreed to send it to the UK (arm and a leg). Still I have one now and would have paid twice the price.

Ahem.  So, anyone got any new kits then?

I've got an AiM CL-44D conversion coming from Hannants (to be used with one of my Airways Vac Form Britannias), plus a couple of North American FJ Fury decal sheets which will be used in one of my theme builds.

Arrived today, only I had forgotten I had bought a couple of Eduard Zoom 1/72 F-35B interior Self Adhesive detail PE sets too --   :-\

It is odd isn't it ? and one I wasn't aware of if I'm honest. It could almost be a twin engined bird from the box art.

If the canopy is vacform (being Legato I assume it is) then it will need a steadier hand then mine  ;) Nice find

From Evil Bay;
1/72 Bandai YS-11.  This is the first Bandai release (1970's) of what was originally an Imai mould and at that point still contained full cabin seating.  Given the size of the windows prolly not worth installing them which means plenty of airline seats for whiffs.
Also contains a nose weight in the form of a metal bar.  Something more kits should include.
May become part of my planned whiff Flying Doctor fleet.

Given they are probably nearly 40 years old the (high gloss finish) transfers look to be in surprisingly good condition.

And from Metro Hobbies;
1/72 Trumpeter Tupolev Tu-22K.  I've wanted one of these for ages, Metro had one and I had a coupon.  Prolly will become part of the PDRV bomber fleet.  Includes a large cruise missile.
The box is huge but it needs to be given the length of the fuselage.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Didn't one version of the YS-11 kit come with one clear fuselage half so you could see all those seats?

I have a vague idea that I built one for my LHS window display a zillion years ago.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Yes, but not one of the two I have.  You'd want to add much more detail wouldn't you - overhead lockers, galley, toilets etc.  Well, I would anyway.

Given it's size it could almost become a flying surgery ?

I like the Blinder. Another of those classic Soviet types that has always fascinated me.

I like the look of that  YS-11 Fred . I am not a  big fan of airliners,  but  its a vintage  turbo prop, so  ticks all the boxes  for me.  Honduras navy  colours and  markings  would  suit  it.  I  have  a couple of the revell  tu -22 blinders,  I  have  a soft spot for  cold war Soviet  jets, and the  blinderis a favourite.  I have  thought about  re scaling a 1/144th scale  one  to 1/72nd, and making a tupolev version of a flying tank.

Is there a way to make "My Stash UN-Grew Again"?

I started investigating a new line of model possibilities... the WWII themed manga  stories from Leiji Matsumoto... of Captain Harlock and Galaxy Express 999 fame.  Anyway, Hasegawa's got some of the more prominent ones in their "Creator Works" series... the same imprint that Area 88 is being released under, but they's mostly 1/48 scale.  So I decided to do a few mini-dios in 1/144 scale and picked up a Sweet 2-in-1 F4F box and a bagged Zero as well as 2 kit Platz boxes for Bf 109s, Fw 190s and P-51s (and an Me262 from Trumpeter) in anticipation of a few projects.

I got excited and started on the "Japanese F4F vs. American Zero" project and got the fuselage glued together, a motor for the engine picked out and painted the engine (very nicely if I do say so myself...)

Then, while I was looking at the 1/48 scale paint call outs to decide the next steps for my 1/144 kit... I realized that there was something funny with the wheels... I couldn't quite put my finger on it...

And then it dawned on me that this was a "F6F vs. Zero" party and I was two digits shy...  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Of course my lucky streak with the available Platz boxes came to a crashing halt.  The F6F-5 is no where to be found...

Sigh... So I had to go back and work on one of the other 6 projects I've got on the go instead... just my luck.  :o
Thanks!

Greg

Standard Whiffer life Greg, but at least you have six Whiffs just sitting there ready for work.  :thumbsup:

Arrived  yesterday,  two pairs of fireflash missiles, an3 the Canberra interceptor  conversion set from Colin.  The nose looks like  it should  go straight on my B-57 too so all good there.  I  am sure that I  will have  bits in the boneyard boxes  that can be used to replicate the missiles or make  close renditions of.

A box full of resin that's now gone 2/3 of the way round the world to get to me!  ;D

A set of B-52H engines to hang under the wings of my 'more or less engines' entry in the current GB.

All this thanks to ebay and ESPECIALLY to Brian Rickshaw who acted as an intermediary postal stop to get them to me.  :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
