My Stash Grew Again 2019

I should probably de-stash all my kits and do a check for nests (ants and/or rodents).  They all look fine from the front but who knows what could be going on at the back of those cupboards.

New to my stash today.  All from various denizens of the Bay of Evil.

I need to do the same with my stash....   brown recluse...   be hiding in there. I found a couple in the past. Limb rotting lil fellers. If you've eaten or plan to in the near future, don't google "brown recluse bite."         Heard y'all was in a heat wave down yonder?

Volkswagen T1 Kastenwagen.

The Heller Bentley is a surprisingly good kit - built one as a present late last year. The experience was less traumatic than expected!

I've examined one built up by one of the other Model Car Club members and they can be made to look very good.  Only thing i'm thinking of changing is the wheels for some with finer spokes.

Today I received, from Evil-Bay, "German Leader and Blondi the Dog", "German Waffen SS soldier" and "Erwin Rommel".

Ordered an 1:72 EMHAR Mk. A "Whippet" tank - someone here built one with the tracks/hukk reversed, and that gave me an idea for something similar. And two tank turret conversion sets from S&S models, for an early Valentine and a Bishop SPG.

No, I have a 1/24 G4 kit which is what I wanted the nazis for.  If I was planning a British equivalent I would start with the Airfix 1/32 "Monty's Humber" kit.

Yesterday, I was given a copy of a decidedly rare* resin kit.  I know exactly what I'm doing it as (there's a few of us with the same clone kit so we're doing a group build) but I won't say anything else until it's finished.




*So rare I've only seen the one that was used as the master.

Just picked up some more goodies from the post office. A&A models IL-102, going to be a cartel close support aircraft, not sure if I will utilise the weapons bays in the wings though, as you have to cut them out. I might just put some more pylons on it. Nice choice of weapons with it, and it certainly fills the box, as it has loads of parts.
Also to the stash, Special Hobby Dornier DO 27/ CASA C-127. Tiny little thing this is, it will get the turbo prop treatment, and a new propeller.
Trumpeter 1/72nd scale SAM-6, already done one of these, the launcher and missiles are going on a truck, and the vehicle is going to get a pair of surface to surface missiles. And finally, two of the three books I ordered, French secret projects, and Soviet wings.

Quick trip to Hobby Lobby with 40% off coupon in hand resulted in my first armo(u)r purchase in many a year.  Walked out with a Tamiya M41 Walker Bulldog for $10.  Looks like an easy enough kit.  It will be my first ever 1/35 vehicle.

Basic but ok - don't let it put you off 1/35 Armour... look on it as a cheap practice kit.

Ok... I finally get on the board with a Heller 1/75 Niña kit! First ever ship (unless you count turning a Cutty Sark into an underwater flying submarine... which some of you might, actually).

This one falls into the "well, with a few adjustments it'll look enough like a 1/72 scale Arabian Dhow for me" category.  I've got it ear-marked for a Tintin build, specifically the smuggling ship that rescues Tintin and Snowy off the Arabian coast in The Cigars of the Pharaoh.

This is a big country and generally some part of it is too hot.  Down here in the bottom RH corner today was a very pleasant day in the low twenties Celsius.  It's going to be hot for the weekend and into the next week though - High 30's/low 40's forecast.

Okay so I spotted this on Ebay, posted it on one of the Found Whiffs threads and forgot about it, but then somebody else found it independently, and when I looked, it was still on ebay! How anyone can resist a four-engined 757 Space Shuttle is beyond me... Now of course, there are those who may argue that a 757 hasn't got four engines and isn't a Space Shuttle, but I would ask those nitpickers to direct their attention to the side of the box where it clearly states "MODEL OF THE REAL STYLE", and ask themselves: would a respectable Chinese company capable of this engineering marvel lie to you?





I have to report that assembly was easy but disappointingly quick, requiring no glue or fettling, and the paint and markings were pre-applied. Possibly the most difficult operation was fitting the batteries in the base, followed by the challenge of finding a suitably large area of smooth floor space for them to propel it around on. However, the flashing lights, police sirens and jaunty tune that it plays while doing this are more than ample reward, and are doubtless as authentic as the rest of this masterpiece.
