My Stash Grew Again 2019

Despite  throwing spanners and money at my sidecar outfit,  I  have  been  buying the odd kit and  decal sheet.  One  kit I  have  been  anticipating  is the 1/72nd scale  zvesda MSTA-S self propelled  152mm howitzer. I am so glad it has rubber  tracks  on it too. Aircraft  wise, I  have acquired  an Anigrand  McDonnell  XF-88A voodoo. This will be a competitor to Gloster's  javelin  as an all weather  interceptor,  put forward by  Hawker.  The aircraft  was far superior  in performance  than the Javelin,  and  will be in service  much  longer than the  Javelin  was  in real life. The  decals I  have  got  are  the Blackbird models Hunter part one and  post war RAF part 3, andthe model alliance  RAF Germany  part 3. I have 12 aircraft for my RAF 1950's to 1970's so far  so I am going to need  plenty of decals . The earliest aircraft  being  a  turbo propped  P-51, made from surplus  aircraft  from world war two.

It's that time of year again - tax rebate time.  And this year there is more because we had an election and those who won bribed the electorate.

As I am on Uncle duties this weekend I had an hour to kill while The Boy was at Kung Fu.  What else to do but visit the LHS.  It was only a couple of minutes from the dojo after all.
I picked up two Italeri 1/72 choppers;
UH-1C Gunship starter set.  No plans for this yet but maybe it could get a  RW 'strayan Vietnam scheme.
UH-60 Black Hawk "Night Raid".  This will be a RW ADF chopper in Tan, Black and Green camo.

Also paint.  And some Testors Liquid Cement for Plastic - the stuff in the square black bottle with a red label.  This is my favourite glue for styrene (mainly because the nozzle doesn't clog like Revell Contacta) but it's hard to find here.

I love that glue. Between TET and that stuff, I do all I need to. A couple years ago I found six bottles on sale for like.... $4 a piece or so and I snagged 'em up. Should last a while.

I'm going to TRY.. to turn this into another fighter-liner with Air France livery. 



Had one of these on the radar for quite some time.... finally snagged one that fell into my price range. (Under $30 total, and this was all of that at $29.99 but free shipping) I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this one, but I'll likely make it OOB. At some point I'm going to buy another version with the radial engines and put Slovakian markings on it.

Snagged a much larger cutting mat recently as well....  $12 and free shipping, why not? Not sure what time of day it arrived but it was missed and I found it at 3:30 in the morning when I went out to move my truck for work. A bit astonished a crackhead didn't run off with it.

I built that Pe-8 model a good few years ago, real world. It's one that you need to take your time over, just settle for slow but steady progress, and most importantly put it down for a bit before it starts to frustrate you, which it will. It will then build ok.

When I build kits that I know are not going to be "shake and bake" like this one I always find building a nice simple one at the same time helps.

The Pe8 prototype had a fifth engine in the fuselage mounted on the wing spars specifically to provide supercharged air to the other four.
I offer this information in case Brad C, or anyone else is thinking (as I might have been) of adding an engine to the nose of a Pe8 for the Engines - More or Less GB.  It won't count.

A HUMUNGUOUS box from the Big H's Summer Sale containing an Airfix Victor B2, a Lightning F2A (you can never have too many....) and a Fouga Magister.

The Victor's enormous  and looks to be pretty complex, but I'm not sure it'll end up as a Victor......

Went for the double seater because it was $20 after shipping and I didn't see many other for sale and the ones I did were more. Not much logic went into this other than I'm a penny-penching cheapass.

No you are not. This is a sensible idea!  As a  member  of Whiffworld, you realise that the cheaper the base kit, the more likely you are to do something  unexpectedly creative with it!

Right you are!!! I guess I forget sometimes...  Case in point, my two cheap Caravelles that I just recently cut up and crammed together. I had no qualms about this at all because they were dirt cheap.

A Hasegawa 1:72 RA-5C for just EUR 3,-. Cheap enough for not having a plan for it.
It came without box, decals or instructions, though, probably a Kangnam copy/re-issue.

I would have snagged it, too, for that price.     It's hard to pass up good deals.
