Surprisingly one of the post lunch pressies was a kit

New tool Airfix Me 262A-2A Bomber. I'm thinking Hungarian or maybe Romanian AF. It will be interesting to see if the slight problem I had with the wing leading edge/engine on the one I built when it first came out was me or the kit ?

Perhaps immediate postwar Chris a bit like those Czechslovak ones iirc.

I've had one in the stash for years. There was a website offering alternative decals too.

Rheged

Despite temptation, my stash did NOT grow today. British Heart Foundation shop in Hereford had  3 Airfix Yak 9s at £9.99 each, Privateer, Liberator and a couple of others I can't recall at £19.99 each and a Heyford and a Stranraer at £29.99 each.  Someone's stash reduction is BHF luck.

@Rick: Most of it is gone now, now they have individual fighters.

@Nick, if you ever want to give it up, let me know, lol

Gondor

I received an eBay win in the post today

1 x 1/72 CtA Harriers-1 Generation & two Seater

Probably going to be used for real world builds especially as there is an option for the toned down Indian Navy markings

I came across an Airfix 08670 'Bombers; North American B-25 Mitchell and Shorts Stirling '. The Stirling wasn't opened but the B-25 was. I'm not too sure if all the parts are there in the Mitchell kit,  so I will use it for spares.

Fred, be warned that it looks better in the box than when you start building it - the fit is vile, the u/c bays need some serious reinforcing... Absolute filler hound and there's very few places to put enough weight to prevent it being a tail sitter.

Picked up an AZ Spitfire mk IXe lowback fom Uncle Frank yesterday.  He has another one that looks rather lonely left on the shelf...

That ended up in my possession a few days back.

Ebay tells me I've won that Testors Swift I was bidding on for the start price.  Which is nice.  There was also an Airkit Spitfire IIa wing tank and Griffon contrprop up as a BIN with free postage.  Would have to be stupid to let that go, so 'natch, it got snaffled.

I should also have 'fessed up to getting a second original Pegasus Spiteful in the white plastic too.

And finally, I've ordered one of these from Shapeways in 1400th scale:

Could you make your own version of the part that's made for the Tamiya 1/48 version; a weight in the shape of the interior of the nose, with hollows for the wheel bay and cockpit, then skin it with the wheel well/cockpit interior detail?
If you started with something malleable enough and bashed it into a rough shape, the skinning/detailing could then go over that.
Maybe some white metal engines could help, too?

Of course, that wouldn't address the other difficulties Lee mentioned...
