I saw the real 'Grosvenor House' on Sunday, standing right next to Alex Henshaw's Mew Gull. It was amazing to think how many miles those two had done all that time ago.  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

And do you know the what-if twin-boom Comets? ;D
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

NARSES2

Ooh I do like the twin boomers Tophe

Depending on what comes out on top in the next GB Season Poll I can see me turning the old Airfix kit into a nose wheel twin boomer
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Tophe

Thanks!
Then I will see if our Comet expert TomZ "accepts" it or judges this is too much heresy... :-\ ;D

I think it looks great. Anything that even remotely looks like a Comet is good!
I'm already looking for some extra Airfix Comet kits to turn it into plastic

Wonderful!

Ahem, concerning "turning it" into plastic, something has to be changed maybe: I have decreased the fin size by 30% because there are two of them (for having the same total area: a²=2*b² --> b=a/sqrt(2)=a*70.7%), so maybe using 1/72 fins/rear fuselages for a 1/48 nose/canopy (ratio 66.7% similar to 70.7%)? [Mathematics is fun when applied to the what-if world]

or using 2 big fins is possible also... like on the Twin-Mustang...

Anything? So, here are Mustang-Comet mixes:

 ;)

Will probably also have some scaling issues.......

Thanks!
And now 3 Lockheed intermediates (in my mind) between Lightning and Comet:

There is another weird Comet (profile) at https://www.deviantart.com/bispro/art/De-Havilland-Comet-Trainer-203414640
by Bispro that was here as our friend Stargazer.
Enjoy!

Maybe for father's day I may require the 1/144 DH-88 from http://jacques.chaubet.free.fr/1919/dh88/dh88.htm
It is all in white metal, I have never built such a kit... (Jacques Chaubet answered that cyanoacylide glue like superglue works for that all right)
Has someone an experience of this kit?
(My plan is to build an asymmetric push-pull version, maybe biplane)

I have two of them. Nice kit. Haven't built them yet.
Solid metal fuselage and wings in one piece.
Separate undercarriage.
Because it is solid metal, surgery to make into something else (shudder ;) ) will not be very easy.

white metal is very soft. You can cut it with a hobby knife, and white metal landing gear sometimes will sag under the weight of a resin aircraft.

Tophe

Thanks! So I think this De Havilland/Tophe special Comet will be... ;D

I found other Comets from our friend Stargazer2006 (and maybe transformed by myself):
