It's based on the Short Sandringham using the " 1/72 Emily flying boat kit"

I'm not too sure if there is a 1/72 conversion Short Sandringham set for the Airfix or Italeri Shorts Sunderland, but the Japanese "Emily" flying boat could be a donor kit for suitable whiff.
I found an old kit in my stash and if I remove the guns from the side blisters, front and rear turrets, and blank off the upper gun turret the familiar shape can be seen.
it will mean a lot of sanding to remove all those rivets and replacing the engines for something Westernized. Additional windows and decks will need to be scratch built, I have some seating leftover from the Mach2 Sud Caravelle that I can use.
Decals will be sourced from the stash

Sounds like a plan!   I've often wanted to simply swap the paint and decals with a Sunderland, put them on a table side by side, and see who notices.

There was a guy at the MK Show a year or so ago who'd done half of that.

He just displayed an Emily in an RAF Coastal scheme, and people were just glancing at it and moving on. The Whiff SIG stand was in the same hall and we got it right away of course.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

I think you mentioned that before, on another topic.
