QuoteI plan to build, from my 2 Heller 1/72 kits, a Caudron C.7144
The styrene sheet is ordered: soon plastic! (with different colours, no propeller, no gun, no roundel)

After drawing the XP-68 project, let me imagine the jet version XP-68J. Why not?

Were the Percival P.35/36/37 illegal copies of the Burnelli planes? Well, maybe the Burnelli & Cunliffe-Owen machines provided great ideas to local engineers, leading to the twin-engine project below, P.35-1939, that would have been a matter of legal penalties, thus the rather different P.35-final/36/37, with more engines, different tail, crew nacelle...

QuoteIn "The end of Forked Ghosts" was presented the asymmetric dreamy P-5115D, a Twin-Mustang with special tail, central wing and starboard fuselage... No need: to build something like that in plastic, I could start from a very classical P-82 kit, only discarding one cockpit, one propeller/spinner/engine and that is all... P-8228.
Ups, to add into my twin-boom collection too, maybe better than in the Mustangs' update...

JMN/Historian   crushing tophe  :
- Hey  , foolish what-ifer  : for a reco aircraft, the asymmetric layout (Bv 141) WAS and IS far more appropriate than your Fw 189 stupid twin-boomers  , with tail behind, with fuselage mask on both sides  !
- yes, but a twin... :)
- Shut up you stupid  ! No need of twin-engine, no need of twin-boom!!
- but what if... ^_^
- No!
- a twin-plane...
- No, a Twin-Mustang-189 cannot view well either!
- yes... :P
-  Shut up!

[The gorgeous 1/72 Unicraft kit I have of Grokhosky G-38   made me think of...]
The civilian P-38 of my dreams: no need of nose guns (just a little room below canopy) and no need of heavy nose landing gear (tail-wheels are right without nose guns to support)
thus  :

P-38NN means Ne-Ning, as I love this Light-Ning with an asiatic cute nose, and my beloved wife's filipino nick-name is Ne-Neng...
Is this P-38 completely stupid? No, not completely: most of you know probably that the XP-38 tried to break a transcontinental speed-record – in peace-time, she may have been designed only for that, with very minimum weight and drag as engineers' goal.

Thanks to The Rat, and http://www.aeroknow.com/USAFM.htm I add the GF5F-2 Twin-Skyrock (from the XGF5F Skyrock glider, from the F5F Skyrocket...)

From the 1949 inventions of Mike Millette (seen in another topic), I can invent 1944 progenitors :
- The Bf 109ZX: floatless Me 109ZX with separate tailplanes
- The Do 435ZJ: floatless Do 335ZJ with linked tailplane
I have never felt comfortable about booms holding floats which are not tail-booms but make the total exceed 2 booms...

Before 'adding' the what-if Twin-Skyrock, I think I should have presented the very real basis Twin-Skyrocket.

Why are the fuselages converging? Military logic: the guns (in the fuselage axis) are pointing on a single target, not firing beside it... Photopaint/Photoshop logic: without mirror effect, the shadow and background would have showed clearly this was a fake...:

What? A converging version with 4 engines? Yes, it existed too, you just needed to ask the photograph...

JMNs love The Great History (wars and presidencies), while many people prefer the "little history" (secret loves among celebrities, half-breed secret children) that is strictly prohibited from History books...
Shht, I tell you one of these secret stories: the big farmer-slave XR-11 had seduced Queen P-38, that had a baby girl, raised in secrecy, hidden: P-38-11 was her secret name, officially M-4360, and at flight-school the mates laughed badly at her oversized breasts, at her incredible contra-rotating intermeshing propellers hiding her nose. Poor young girl... she did not marry, nor had children, alas. Bad side of Queen P-38 glory. Shht...

From the TG-planes forum, that I have discovered recently:

13 posts there, 2196 here: the What-if modeller forum is still the n°1 for me, by far...

Missing links between the P-38 (long nose) and P-38 car (short nose) are the P-38sn (short nose) and P-38cln (car long nose):

Still about Lightning missing links:
Between the famous P-38 and the unknown P-38/75mm, I imagine:
- the P-38-7 as a P-38 with /75mm's engines and cockpit position
- the P-38-9 as a P-38/75mm with P-38 engines and cockpit position
Simply different, enriching the family with half breeds...

Still on the TGplanes forum, I received replies that I was unable to understand. Trying, I imagined a safer version P-38PCP: port contra prop...
