To convince doctors not understanding modelism specificities: between P-38 wings, include a P-61 pod, turned into a single-seater to look like a P-38...    :D Lockhrop P-61-38 Black Lightnow... with maybe guns to attack any psychiatric asylum hurting lunatics...

How about the other way with a stretched P-38 center pod mated to the wings, engines, booms, and tail of a P-61?

Yes! After Glenn's P-61-38, here is Elmayerle's! :D  Labelled engineer design! ^_^  And dated 1945, or 2005 I don't know: the last figure is a 5 for sure, the rest being blurred.
A P-38 pod between P-61 wings produced the P-61-38A, but the design requirement was a STRETCHED P-38 pod, and the XP-61E was standing as inspiration... that leaded to the final P-61-38E Black Winning. With E as P-61E and as Evan. Thanks to our dearest engineer!

About twin-boom Skyrockets (idea that I love too... ), have you seen my related posts in this topic (2005 Oct.2, Oct.2, Oct.3, Nov.7)? I improve here the F5F-6 drawing (from the F5F-5 triplex-boom, thanking Proditor again... :P ):

Oooooh a tri-motor P-38! Tophe that is pure genius! You know someone from this board will get around to whiffing it! Probably sooner than later.

Thanks Brian to appreciate this new dream, while a 3-engined P-38 is not new at all (and has still not been built). It was featured as P-74 in my 2004-book (you may print it, it is available on line, free, at http://cmeunier.chez-alice.fr/Free_EoFG_MV.htm ).
What seems to be new today was a 3-TRACTOR-propeller P-38... And as it was awfully centered, with such a heavy nose, I have imagined a better centered version (P-38-3c) with rear engine driving a nose propeller (P-39 way), and cockpit+wings moved forward slightly. Different but less beautiful than the P-74s...

That's some incredible stuff Tophe! I'd like to see a 4 engined P-38...tractor-pusher combo on the central fuse and the usualy two on the booms. I bet this wouldn't be too hard to model if one were willing to sacrifice a couple of P-39 kits to the cause. Tophe, your drawings and ideas always get me thinking!

Ooooh I like it I like it! I think I need a few minutes alone with this one...

P.S. I'll be keeping an eye out for some "marked down" P-38 kits when I raid the local hobby shop next Saturday.

Half-plastic (SingleWind Airfix 1/72 model – see http://www.whatifmodelers.com/forum//index...?showtopic=6128 ), half-Photopainted (into a twin-plane): here is the Westland DoubleWind Mk.1... one more twin-Whirlwind...

And here is the twin-engined two-seater DoubleWind Mk.2, bringing back asymmetry from the SingleWind basis:

Thanks to Glenn's invention P-38Y model   (push-pull 2-engined P-38, to say it simply...) in the topic http://www.whatifmodelers.com/forum//index...?showtopic=7780 , here is another twin-boom P-38: Photopainted P-38YY push-pull 4-engined twin-pod... Thanks Glenn! ^_^

Edit: on my twin, there are no canards (just background colour near noses...), otherwise I would count 4 booms instead of 2

The P-38YY (or YoY: Why oh Why?) above is still asymmetric, with copy and paste Zwilling. Of course some symmetric P-38Z & ZZ could be created with mirror Zwilling, but that would need  as source a view from above (or front, or mix above-front but not-lateral), rather than a slanting view. Glenn, could you help dear? ^_^
