But, say, are they twin-boom Lancasters?

I know this SL-2P wing/airfoil test-bed, thanks.

In 1945, the P-38 was getting old and needed more speed, so a third engine, all right. BUT:
- it was bad in the nose as this place was very needed for grouped "devices"
- it was bad in the central rear as endangering bailing out
and where installing the turbo-compressor, the cooling system, uh?
SO: the third engine was installed laterally, simply, taking credibility from the reliable Bv 141 asymmetry.

Still another 3-engined Lightning, with 3-engines in another way: tandem all - the 2 front engines drive the rear propeller, the rear engine drives the front propeller...

In the topic http://www.whatifmodelers.com/forum//index...showtopic=11771 , I added several twin-boomers 1939-45, and I think I should include them here in my whole collection, linked from my Forked Ghosts Update web-site.

I am currently doing my first plastic twin-tail (what-if). It will be a Pilatus PC-218 (licence build Bf-109Z).

I have now chopped off the outer wings, of what will bedcom the join between the 2 fusalages. I am about to add putty to the one cockpit.
