that's the spirit barry!

see, that's what i don't have (besides talent) - i'm all GO GO GO and then as soon as i take a break for a week, or get distracted, the old girl ends up on the "TBC" shelf and looks forlornly at me forever.

i'm really enjoying this build of yours, and the in progress shots are invaluable to us in getting a feel for it, and also as "step by step" guides to doing some of the more hardcore elements that maybe we haven't tried yet.

looking like a winner mate - here's looking forward to more!

Hmmm, radial!

But Barry, now that I think of it, you should have gone with a V-12 of some sort, since the radial was such a nice feature of the Corsair...

Heh, why settle for a V-12?  Use the Chrysler IV2220 fromt eh XP-47H and have an IV-16.

This pic is entitled "Mess1" but could just as accurately be called "How NOT To Scratchbuild."

Now you know why the Mouse sometimes Howls, eh?

I love reading about how some guys will put a couple of pieces of rod through a kit's wings and center them through the fuselage for structural strength.  Man, that sounds good right about now!

I keep test-fitting the various wing pieces.  What, me worry?

Besides just getting the cut-down wing segments to hold onto the common spars, there sure is a gap to be filled underneath, b/w the innermost wing chord and the fuselage.  That's why you see so many additional braces added in the previous pic: something to build up a skin against to fill in the 3/8" gap.

Madness----awrrrooOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Frankenstein sure is a good way of describing "it"

and it gets worse...

But, so far, so good----all turning out quite well with the lower outer wing halves glued on (or should I say "taped" on?).
