Interesting.  Why the fashion of nearly all the multi-engined propeller aircraft flying with only one engine?

Because Farnborough was a sales event really, and they could demonstrate to potential customers how the aircraft could still remain airborne with one or more engines out.

With the test bed aircraft it was to show how powerful the test engines were, and one of the jet engined test Lancs flew by with JUST the jet running and all three Merlins feathered, which looked totally bizarre!
