And the body before clear coat - although I literally just had an incident involving glue and the back end. Repaint coming up

Wait a minute!  :o

What is it with car builds recently, that's EXACTLY what happened with my Mustang model!

Looks like the auto-censor has kicked in again. Bugger had gone on holidays for a little while, there.

fuzzy bunny = something that looks similar to "B@$t@rd" (I know 'coz I tried it & "bitch" works fine ;)).

That looks lovely, esp. in combo with the interior.

Disaster!! I sprayed on a light coat  of Tamiya clear and it ruined the paint work by melting and pitting the clear blue.
So, one remasking job later, its once again under primer  :banghead:
Note to on self and to all: don't use a sprayed on clear from a rattle can.
I was a bit skeptical about it when i went to initially spray it but I thought no, it'll be fine. I was wrong

Pretty well exactly what happened when I tried to clear coat my Mustang too.  :banghead:

Fred Zenrat reports similar issues with clear coats, but it seems some are good and some aren't. I had quite good success with 'Klear Koat Acrylic' but that was bought in the UK and I didn't use it over such an exotic colour coat as your Honda's.

I guess it was my fault for spraying a lacquer over the thin acrylic top coat. Next time I'll use the SMS clear
I got the base colour back on after a marathon painting session involving a hair dryer. It's looking better so far than the first time. I haven't even polished the coat yet. Once that's done, it'll look really amazing. The pearl effect really comes out after that.

Anyway, I'll leave it to dry now before the top coat goes on. I might add a touch of green to the mix as well

Tamiya TS clear is great...
...over Tamiya TS paints.
I wouldn't use it over anything else without doing a test first as it can react very badly.
I once put it over enamel by mistake.  Boy that was a mess.
It can also eat decals if put on too heavily.

Good rescue Sykotik.  Are you aiming to have this at Expo?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Fingers crossed - yes I am. I'll be showing it along with the BMW, Calibra and Corvette hopefully. No Sci-Fi subjects for me this year which will be a first.
First time entering cars too, but I am not expecting to place - they'll just be there for show

I've had problems with both Tamiya and Humbrol spray can matt varnish  :banghead: Gone back to using Windsor and Newton and a brush.

That colour is absolutely gorgeous
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

sykotik

Thanks guys
Fred, yes, I'll be there on Monday. You?

I am now using the SMS clear. Its ok but it lacks a solid shine. It applies nicely but you need a few coats to really bring out the gloss

sykotik

So, it's been repainted and is almost ready now for the final assembly which will be done this weekend hopefully

It's a little darker now but I love how the green comes through underneath in varying light. Really happy with this effect

Next post will hopefully be the final shots
Thanks for looking
