Avro Archer F3.

The third  and possibly  final version  of the Avro Archer  interceptor.  Based in  Germany  for  most of its  operational life,  and having  a lot  of changes  made  to it over its 10 years  service,  most  notably the  full higher visibility canopy  on the F3 version.  The aircraft  was also used with  several  different  engines  to find  the best possible  performance.  The mark 2 and 3 had the weapons bay sealed and  turned  into  fuel  tanks, giving  the aircraft  far greater  range,  and the missiles  were carried  on 4 wing stations.  This aircraft  is  carrying  2 firestreak  missiles  and a pair of  Genie nuclear tipped missiles  for attacking  bomber  formations.  This weapons  load  was very  rarely  carried,  and usually consisted of  4 firestreak missiles. The kit  is the one  and  only  Hobbycraft one.  Not  the easiest  to get  to look how it should  hence the canopy  change.  This  thing  has been a  patience  tester that's for sure,  hence it taking  so long to finish,  everything seemed to  spit its dummy out,  and  my fingers were probably at their  worst when building it, but  its done,  now it can  gather  dust on my window ledge.

That looks really great!  Hard to believe that the little SR53 next to it is the same scale - it almost looks like it could be carried by the Archer, you know, like a life-boat.  :)

It's  certainly  huge  compared to the  sr53, that's for sure,  definitely business class  compared to the  SR 's  economy class

Great work.

Funny, I've just picked up a 1/48 Hobbycraft Arrow to do pretty much the same thing......

And i have an SR.53 (also 1/48)

That Sr 53 looks very  nice. I would  like  another  arrow kit  to build  and make an RAF aircraft,  now I know  what its problems are.  Cheers

She's certainly a big beastie, nice work mate
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I wanted to put the stencils on the  wings and even  after sealing the  decals  the things disintegrated.  I  have  a picture  of an RAF  Arrow in a  book  I  have  and  it had the same wing stencils  over the camouflage paint,  and  it looked  good to me. Nevermind eh.

Which book is that?

I need to do a bit more research to see what the inaccuracies of the kit are.  I'm aware the intakes are wrong, and the cockpit is practically non-existent.

I've got a book with an RAF Arrow in it too. It's like a US written version of 'Project Cancelled' but with superb artwork of the various aircraft, all drawn by the author himself. Very good it is too, some great Whiffing ides in there.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Some years ago when I went to a Cold Lake Airshow, they had the full size Arrow replica on display in a hangar, it was used in the movie about the Arrow starring Dan Aykroyd.  I can confirm the aircraft was huge !!!!!  I've also seen the 1/8 flying model of it that was built for the flying scenes in the movie, a local RC shop in Calgary being the ones who built it.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Dunno, I'm about 120 miles away from it at the moment, but I'll be home on Monday.
