FABULOUS pics Thomas, I LOVE that colour!

It'll be interesting to see what 2-6 say.

The colours in the cockpit-area band all appear to be different. :o

All the Braniff colours of that period, the 'Flying Colours' schemes, suffered from the same problem. Apparently the specially mixed paint didn't take well to high speed, sun and UV and they all faded badly, so the front end of most of their aircraft of the period ended up looking like they'd been shot blasted.

The only hard wearing one was the Orange for some reason.

I'll check the link - it's actually for archive.org and may not be valid anymore, but I will post it here if it turns out to work and/or be helpful.

Here's the link: http://web.archive.org/web/20050711080200/http://www.geocities.com/~aeromoe/fleets/bn1.html

It's accessible and lists the Braniff International fleet, and it offers some intersting footnotes concerning the color palettes through the different design eras - but nothing too specific on the tones themselves (like codes or samples). A nice service/source, nevertheless!

Magic stuff! That's worth its weight in gold to the dedicated Braniff buff! Well done, and thanks.

The Little Eight's coming on nicely.

Painting has started, with the wings (upper sides first), since they become white with leading edges and moving surfaces in aluminum. In the meantime, I also mounted the engine nacelles to the wings. I had to modify them further, though, because the ground clearance is really poor - the effect of the short wingspan and the lack of dihedral at the DC-8's wing roots. It should be O.K. now, and with the wheels another 2-3mm will be added. With the engines in place, the thing looks much more DC-8-esque now.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Glad you apparently like it.  ;D

In the meantime, not much has happened since I wait for the paint to thoroughly cure. I just painted the wheels and make up my mind how to paint the black area around the cockpit. Probably with thin black decal stripes and the some paint.
