I shall be using this kit...
Little Red Wagon by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr
...but not in the Little Red Wagon wheelstander scheme (which was IRL brought out of retirement earlier this year).
It'll be an old ute, pulled out of a barn and put back on the road with a modern engine.  In this case a supercharged 6.4 litre modern Hemi (resin, Clearly Scale).

Oh YES! Can't beat a L'il Red Wagon!

I've built a couple of them, and still have two unbuilt ones in The Loft. It's a cracking kit, either stock or to 'work with'.

I built one of those more years ago than I care to think about!
Your idea sounds great!

A smart looking engine there.  :thumbsup:2

Clearly Scale (a one man operation in Canadia) does some lovely work.  Unfortunately he is having serious health issues and his site is not working at the moment.

Engine is now together enough to test fit it into the chassis.
Good news is Dodge didn't appear to change their engine mounts in 45 years as it should sit very nicely on the stock mounts.
The engine is significantly wider though which will mean modifications to the engine cover in the cab.
I also found a beefier rear axle and an independent front suspension set up to replace the stock beam axle.

In the cab? I thought the engine was out back, in the middle of the truck bed?  :-\

The stock engine (a small block Mopar V8 - prolly a 316) sits between the seats.  The engine in the wheelstander version is set back with the nose of the gearbox corrected directly to the diff limiting suspension travel to that provided by the engine mounting frame pivoting.
I will be mounting the engine in the stock position.  There will be windows in the cover to show it off.

I painted the engine Hemi Orange today...

...but it was an old (rattle) can of paint and came out far too thick so I had to strip it all off.

Ahah, now I understand, thanks Fred.

I like the idea of windows in the engine cover.

Well i'm going to have to add material when I widen it so why not make it clear?

Detail painting and wash on the engine today plus primed the coil packs and exhausts.
Figured out wheel mountings and brake rotors for the Corvette front suspension I am replacing the stock beam front axle with.
Attached the front suspension to the chassis rails.

Major progress.  I've got the engine mountings sorted out.

This was simply a case of taking a piece of 1mm styrene sheet and carving away everything that wasn't engine mounting shaped.

I just needs a transmission mount added at the back of the gearbox.

Yes Fred, you're one CLASS car modeller!

Wonderful work there.
