Body is resisting paint.  I'm having trouble getting even coverage.
Nobody panic.  I have a plan...

I hope it's a cunning one ?

Probably one so cunning, you could stick a tail on it and call it a weasel

As cunning as a fox who's just been appointed Professor of Cunning at Oxford University...

;D

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

As I said elsewhere;
My cunning plan worked and I got some colour to behave on the Dodge ute.

That's Vallejo Model Colour Pale Sand acrylic.  I had been thinning it with water previously when it was misbehaving.  This has worked fine in the past but this time I couldn't get an even finish.
So, instead, after a test to make sure nothing nasty happened when I mixed them, I thinned it with metho (methylated spirits - in Aus this is clear, not dyed purple like in the UK).
Result was what you see here.  A nice smooth even coat of colour with good coverage.  Dead flat finish but gloss clear will take cars of that after I add some red to the scheme.

While the paint hardens off (i'll give it another day before I put tape on it) i've been working on the engine cover.  The new engine is wider than the stock 273 wedge V8 (due to those big Hemi heads) so i've removed the sides of the stock cover and will be replacing them with windows (because there is no point in swapping the engine is I then hide it under a cover).

Change of plan.
I started masking for the paint (stripes down the sides) but then got to thinking that it could really do with something a bit fancy along the sides.
So i've been having a rummage through my decal stash and have found something I think could work.
But first i'll need to clear the body.

Progress on the engine cover.

I'm using this as a testbed for the technique i was thinking of using to build Blue Thunders canopy - evergreen I beam and angle section into which cut to size clear acetate sits.

No clear on the body yet.  It's just too humid.  I have a feeling i'm not going to finish by Friday.

OK.  Out of time.

I don't want another extension but I will finish it and post progress.

Chris, please move it to the Current and Finished Projects - Cars slot.

I took advantage of a warm but non humid weekend to clear the A100's body.
I finally trialled some clear i've been meaning to test out for a while - SMS acrylic lacquer.  It went on OK over the Vallejo acrylic i used previously, didn't react and looks shiny.

Very 'period' they are too, they suit the A100 very well.

Thanks Kit.
Period paint but the wheels give it a modern twist.
